Tried non genuine belts for the Opico especially for the one twisted main auger drive belt - not a good idea. This was on ours 1984 to 1994.
In 1985 we visited a guy near Ballymoney who had just changed the belt and the drier was started up
it burned off about 1/2hour later!!
I counted anything over 23 difficult but certainly above 25 blend with dry wheat ie dont fully empty the drier before reloading

Fair enough on genuine belts then. When blending like that does it all dry down equally. Like if u have one dried pickle at 14 and a wet one at 24 will the dry one not go any lower?

its the average that counts, the wetter grains will lose moisture quicker
Theres quite a few up nearer you could tell better like Richard Kane or Kenny Dunn with Opicos

I seen Kenny had his for sale recently but it’s sold now another neighbour of mine Robert Moore has 2 and he says he will keep me right anyway just don’t want to be pestering him all the time.

Forgot Robert Moore, you were down to see our combine last year the deutz 4075.
You got sorted obviously and hope it goes well.
Ah I see. I bought a new holland in the end. 2004 cx820. Would have liked to stay with deutz but just worried about backup on the newer ones. What did u go for yourself?

I’ve just bought a used Opico 590 grain dryer. I’d never even looked at a dryer until last week. Maybe I’m mad but any body got any tips for a 40 year old grain drying virgin.
This is the temp chart for our opico start with these temp and adjust down after first lo

There is a little air pressure tube to tell is the fan stops (belts gone) it can get blocked with dust or chaff. So if it even stops or wont light burner seek it out and clean it out.
Goes from fan chamber to pressure switch, but i am going back a while.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but run an opico gas drier at the moment but was wondering are diesel driers more or less fuel efficient and are there any brand of drier more efficient other than the sun.

I was told that Kerosene will use half the amount of gas too dry the same Amount of grain and is a lot cheaper too
