H&L milk taxi or Urban milk shuttle?

I thats it

I have a 200l barrel with a ball cock and the collar heater Inside, tap on bottom Into Jfc, have the heater on a timer comes on at 5am for 7:30am feed and 3pm for 5:30pm feed , works well for me as my calf shed only has a extension cable power supply so any of these massive power heaters are a no go
Do you mind me asking what id a collar heater? and is the timer just one you plug in a 3 pin plug? Sounds a simple system. I like simple!

It’s an element on a stalk which you sit in a tank. I have one and tried similar. By day two melted the time switch and by day five had fried the 3 pin socket. Ended up putting a 16 amp plug on and buying an in line immersion heater timer. First morning got into the shed cold water and no lights. Turns out when left in the water overnight, the heater had let water in at the bottom and tripped the earth straight away when it cut in. Best laid plans for longer in bed...

Urban milk shuttle is brilliant. Anyone can feed calves, and the dosing mechanism means it's the same every time. There are a few things to calibrate that can take a bit of time, but once it's set up, there's no looking back.

Have you ever measured how much it dispenses at near empty compared to full with the extra head of liquid ? Have bother with ours not being consistent

Not measured, not noticed a difference, that said, the later calves are fed in batches of six, and the first ones in ones and twos, so I guess we might not notice, may have to check now. I assume you are opening the lid before dispensing?

Anyone got on well with the JFC Milk Kart, with both pump, mixer and the additional heater? Been looking for a while and just hoping it will be a good investment for the calf enterprise, making life easier for both calves and calf feeder.

I bought a S/H Milk cart as above , last spring . A man had used it for a season rearing 100 bought in dairy cross bull calves with milk powder. I gave E1500 for it . I have only used the heater a couple of times , warming up cold milk , as i use cows milk to rear the calves.

The best recommendation i can give for it is,

If it broke down , or was say stolen , I would have another bought before the next feeding time. Should have bought one years ago . The pump is brilliant , compared to lifting buckets over gates to tip into sucky feeders.
As handy as a small vice grip.

I think that can be said for any make as they save so much time and make the job so much easier. We have had 2 wydales over the years, ended up putting a third wheel in between the handles so you didn’t have to lift the weight at the same time as pushing or pulling it around the yard as we all found that the height you had to hold the handle at to move it meant you were bending over which was causing us all to get back issues from using it. This is why we eventually bought the urban feeder which we think is brilliant but which ever make you choose to go with I would recommend if you can to get one with a drive axle as your back will thank you that is for sure.

They do look a brilliant bit of kit I had a look at the grant but that’s only on ones with a pasteurizer and we feed powder milk. 🙄. My only thought with the jfc one is pulling it around (being female) but everyone else sounds like they manage ok.

Did you have a look at the Holm & Laue milktaxi? (you need to try this)
It can warm the whole milk or water, it mixes the powder very well!
It also calculates the amount of powder you need to get always the same concentration!
It's stable on 4 wheels
It's made from stainless steel so it is easy to clean not bacteria behind as by plastic will happen.
A Wireless remote control, so no cables that can damage.
and of course electric driven, that makes it very easy to use and drive whit a full tank of liquid
etc.

Do you sell these by any chance?

Similar to the urban milk shuttle then?

Does it weigh the powder in?
No it does not. I believe you input into the screen how much total you want and it tells you how much hot, cold and powder you need to achieve that.
Judging by there not very good English and relatively new member to the site I would say it is probably a European of German descent who happens to manufacture them replying!
I have 2 milk taxis, it’s a love hate relationship. Very good for mixing milk powder. Usually break every year without fail one thing or another. Very inaccurate when it comes to dosing out the milk.
What’s the answer?
I’d say a stainless container with built in mixer and a bucket to dispense it accurately, towable or push able. Preferably with parts manufactured in the uk so it’s an easy fix if the mixer does fail

Had thought about one until the price came in! I’ve bought a Wydale mixer and splashed out on a deluxe white bucket with a pouring spout from RS components (£30+). Works just fine, all for less than £500. Ok, motor drive would have been helpful with the hill we live on, but I can live with a bit of effort.
Edit: Wydale, not Wyevale!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
