Would it not have been better to run a hose to each ram? have each rotor on a seperate spool then, likely cheaper too.
Aye, I did that at first before wiring up the electro hydraulic valve and switch box and going back to running it on one spool.

I'd bought a valtra with electric spools running off the wonderful wee armrest joystick, or the paddle switches along the side of the handrail.

I couldn't get my head around whether forward and back was left, and side to side was right, or up and down, or..... 😱🤣

Ours (Claas) has the seperate hoses, customer bought a new one last year non converted & he has this great lump of a bracket with the changeover lever & hoses up in the cab with him, says he doesn't mind as it's the same as his sprayer.

Got a GA6501 here, piped on individual spools. Lovely bit of kit. Amazing where you will get it and only 2.5m wide folded up. Manual width adjust but tend to leave it where it is and the baler man can go up a gear!

doesnt look like they have changed much from our 6501, we normally rake at 6M or 6.1M and dont find it the most stable on the road (according to rake driver) but as @DrDunc said we could replace the threaded bar with rams each side for hydraulic width.

That's what our claas has. It works fine and I like it cause it uses one spool an electrical switch would be handier mounted but been told it's not possible.

Which expert told you that it isn't possible?

Fit a valve like this on the rake together with a wee bit of cable, and hey presto, one spool and a very tidy electrical switch in the cab....

Don't listen to those who say things can't be done, just because they don't know how! 🙄

Sourced the valve from VHS hydraulics

Roughly £200 eighteen months ago

Bought an electrical box, switch, cable, and 3 pin power plug off eBay for about £25 all in from eBay, then used the original single hose to pipe it

Can't deny the first season it was quite scary how unstable it felt.... but now I'm used to it I can take it just about anywhere, just gotta learn to trust it!
