i really can not see more restrictions in the UK now - economy simply can not take it and people will not comply, you can only get away with telling people what they mist do for so long in free countries

if you are vaccinated there is nothing to worry about much

if you can not vaccinate for any legitimate reason you have my sympathy - isolation is probably wise especially through winter months

if you can vaccinate but haven’t because you believe in crazy conspiracy theories ……… you are probably about to experience Darwins theory of evolution first hand !
With 11 Countries been dropped off the red lists looks like they can't control no more what ever!

I’ve heard this evening that 3 more exhibitors have apparently pulled out. All 3 are I believe in the slurry and waste sector of the industry. Don’t know their reasons.

lets hope not - this is all getting beyond stupid now

people need to learn how to live with flu bugs NOT in fear of them - covid is a fact of life forever more now, vaccinate and get on with life and business or frankly the economy, other health care and life in general is going to hell in a handcart to a point where covid becomes the least of societies worries
I agree we need to get used to living with covid now but it’s important not to lose sight that restrictions aimed at preventing large get-togethers are to protect the nhs; not necessarily the people at the event. If big events cause a peak of infections and they all go home and infect their families and then even a small proportion of those people need hospital treatment…I’d wager you would be most upset, as would I, if you or a loved one needed treatment and were unable to access it because the wards were full of covid patients. Second point; govt didn’t cancel Agritechnica (to my knowledge) and probably won’t cancel Lamma. It’s the people in charge trying to do the responsible thing. I, like you, mostly know of people being fine or having mild symptoms (apart from Jethro, RIP) but sadly perfectly fit and healthy people are dying and no matter what is said about any government; as was seen by things like the ‘help out by eating out’ campaign etc…you can be sure that the state of the economy is just as important to them as the state of the nation’s health. Fair play to them (on this situation!). Let’s just count ourselves lucky that we are in an industry that’s not as affected as some and if it means missing lamma and having to go on the internet or visiting a couple more dealers yards instead, so be it imo.

It’s a yes from me on the 12th, as is Autosport International in the halls next door on the 13th (It’s the ‘trade day’, you have to BS your way in).
If I’m going to travel that far I might as well do the double.

Fully vaccinated, fit and middle aged. Tested positive 6 days ago, today is the first day I am able to sit at my desk and type this. Totally wiped me out, severe flu type effects, serious fever, body aching, loss of taste and very fatigued. Even nearly a week on I am struggling to find the energy to do anything, let alone get outside to any serious work.
Like you Clive I thought nothing much to worry about, lets just say the last few days have changed my opinion massively.

The auto sport show has been cancelled or postponed, I’m quite glad I didn’t book flights for Lamma as not looking good whereas a month ago things were looking rosy!

Wont be there neither & been to both at the NEC & will go again in the future but this carryon needs more time i fear.
Had the 3rd jab earlier in the week & was poor for 24hrs all ok now again thankfully
Too Many getting it that hasnt had any jabs & it often doesnt end well for most of them it now seems.
But like @Bobthebuilder says who ive taken before its a fair journey for us & public transport isnt even an option (Not that id go on that atm neither)
so it means 3 or 4 of us likely in the car then same on way back. If it was an open air event id chance it. Roll on Highland Show maybes ???

While I agree with most of what you are saying, I am not anti vax as such having had 2 jabs but I do wonder what good they are to me? Being very synical and NOT trusting the government one little bit I do wonder are th3 vaccines for my benefit or the benefit of the pharmaceutical companies.
Confidence I would say

Maybe if they were to organise a ‘trade show’ that didn’t involve the non farming public?
But to be honest, if ‘the Highland’ hasn’t run for two years and the Covid situation hasn’t *really* changed, then perhaps the show season, at least as we know it, across the UK is dead in the water.

Yes, we have an awesome vaccination campaign, but if the exhibitors at Lamma are going to cancel due to being risk averse (where there’s blame there’s a claim etc) then we can expect every show to do likewise for the next few years at least, and how long can you maintain the fabric of a show organisation or showground without income?

Remind me, what was the cost of the new and unused McRobert Pavilion? If it was called a ‘white elephant’ before Covid, then I shudder to think what effect it must be having on the finances now. It must keep the ‘Highland’ directors awake at night 😳

That takes us to the 10th. But can setup happen?
Good question. As an exhibitor we have to wait for guidance from the organisers. We can, of course choose to withdraw but then we loose the stand cost charges plus other ancillary costs 100%. To “pull the plug” after build has commenced would be I believe fatal for the organisers. None of this is their fault; they are caught up in this dynamic as are the rest of us. The government need to be more decisive. If I read the scientists correctly they appear to be saying that greater restrictions need to be in place now not later. ROI and the devolved lands will I am sure lead the way again. Let’s see what Conra meeting today decides.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
