Check out the first 4 words of my post. The manganese is an interesting point tho…we do have deficient land but again; you’re not ‘not’ going to put manganese on irrespective of rolling are you?? 🤷‍♂️
You will still put on Mn, you will still put on PGR, you may reduce some of these inputs and either save or increase some tillers so if pushing stones in is important you may gain a few fringe benefits so it’s not recreational in those situations, in really bad Mn def situations rolling can make a massive difference imho rather than just pouring on Mn
I think with the rain we have had most of the soil where the wheat is here is too firm to push flints in anyway so we won’t do anything this year

Unless you have stones; I really can’t see the point of rolling 🤷‍♂️ it’s still going to tiller without rolling; you’re still going to put pgr on even if you roll and apart from making pretty stripes….it strikes me as being fairly recreational

A thin crop can really benefit from rolling in a cold dry spring. But it the soil won't go you have to leave it alone.

I rolled my wheat and picked up the stones on Sunday day that kept me away from starting to drill spring barley as weather crap this week .

I rolled a 4-hectare field 10 days ago, it looked very bad and it was a question whether to destroy it or leave it. The day before rolling it got 160 kg/H AN and after rolling and rain.
She was literally reborn in ten days.
