I used to be a Deere man . I now run a Massey. My old 6920ap would flatten both the Perkins or sisu 7480s , or the 7485 I now have .

On paper the sizes may be similar but I'd think a 175r Deere would match a 7720 ime.

From what I'm hearing a new 175r and a 7720 would both be around 130grand when specced up with full autosteer so I'd guess a 195r would be nearer 145 grand. I made the switch because of the price and because my autopowr shat itself at under 4000hours with no warning and serviced by the book. I am told newer ones are safe tho and have been since 30series.

An 820 is more a match for a 7720. A 720 is shorter and lighter.
We're just contemplating a Valtra as a 7720 alternative here.

As title really. Assuming a fendt 720 would be on a par. But what others?
Buy the Fendt 720 it is a lot better tractor that the MF7720 This Fendt 516 is a better pulling tractor than a Mf 7618.

Why are you looking away from mf ?
This time round

It's something we do periodically, take the Massey blinkers and see what we're missing elsewhere.
Between 2014 & 2015 we tried a few, before we bought our second 7620 vt

NH 7060 AC - disliked by all "if you buy that thing you'll have to drive it yourself" was the staff verdict.
Case Puma 160 CVX was better than we expected, but too dear and "it's ok, but a bit winey, I wouldn't want to drive it all day"
JD 6170r DD (iirc) didn't impress "how the hell are these things market leader? It's shite"
Fendt 720 was a lot more £ than the MF, with the staff verdict "it's ok, but too complicated, you have to think too hard, you can't just jump on and drive the thing"
The resounding conclusion from my team was (in 2014) "Can we just have another vario Fergie please?" Yes lads, you can. (We were replacing a troublesome 6490 at the time)

We have no issue with our local dealer or with MF, but felt the Valtra worth a look, it has the same engine as the Ferg for a start, (Sisu) and it's a bit cheaper. Valtra T194V is a fairly new model, compared to the quite aged set up on the 7720. New MF cab coming soon, though frustratingly 18mths before it is available on a vt. Such things don't help residual values.
If MF fitted the 87 cab to a 77 we'd be keen for one.

The prices of all makes have risen by stratespheric amounts in the last ten years. This just is not sustainable, regardless of colour or proposed residual value.

A good few people bought valtra round here but most only have one then go away from them again for some reason,
