I thought Nissan issued an inspection of trucks built in effected years. Guy who works on farm had an 07, which was looked at by RAC last November. They passed it only for it to snap in February. Nissan paid out plus cost of hire vehicle.

Can’t fault Nissan inspected my 11 year old pickup in August as there was a hole about 1” in the chassis gave me 6 grand 20 percent of a new one and had the new truck within 2 weeks

Do you think Nissan have learnt their lesson and made the new chassis better?
o better a lot of holes to get filled with dirt but very few on bottom of chassis to let out the muck, there are some plates put in where the old ones broke but cannot see it being a massive help. I presume the chassis is built to flex a little for its off road use. Chassis is very thin material so when it starts to corrode there is very little to weld to so patching is a waste of time

Know someone local who bought and old Navara for £1500 before Nissan realised the issues. The kicked up a stink, Nissan gave them £8k for it and knocked 20%+ off a new one. They ended up part exing the knacker and paying £11k for a brand new top of the range truck!

Apologies for any offense, it was not intended.
Just find it hard to talk about replacement vehicle spec and the built in value from Nissan, when the previous one had such a fundamental fault.
The chassis was sh!t and the current one might be equally sh!t, but luckily the purchase proposition is superb, considering Nissan's commitment to its product and customers.

It will indeed be interesting to see how the NP300 chassis lasts in ten year's time. It and the rear suspension arms look decidedly dodgy to my untrained eye, but time will tell.

I’ve said it on other threads, so will say it once again.
The NP300 I’ve got has got a very good coat of wax inside the chassis, and others I looked at on dealer forecourts were the same.
Do other manufacturers do this?

Undoubtedly it is in response to the D40 issue, but at least they have taken steps in the right direction.

Incidentally, as I’ve said before, the D40 we have seems fine, and the chassis looks sound, but I appreciate it is rust from the inside out. I also owned a Hilux for a day last week, the chassis on that did not look anywhere near as sound as our D40, same age, so it’s obviously as much to do with the environment they have lived in as much as anything else?

Not so. My near neighbour's Navara only did light work and was always clean, but still broke. A livestock contractor who has one of the top yielding dairy herds in the country has one more covered in sh!t like a normal dairy farmer's and his broke at about the same age. Both around 9 to 10 years of age.
