think its a bit of a Scottish tradition its called "Sarking" over the border,
many many old buildings in Scotland have it,

will say Paul it is looking good (y)(y)(y)
Yes you are right it is called sarking on the roof , then felt or a membrane under the state's, we are using slate as most new tiles only have a 20 year life span and warranty were slate is 50 year's or more

Aye, Scottish builders put roofs on so they won’t blow off!
English roofs are a joke , I’ve been in lifts you can see through gaps ? uk houses are pretty poor , in the 80’s we lived in a Scandinavian built house much better than British houses , 12” insulating everywhere triple glazing sealed doors for a start out heating bill was sweet fa .

Watched roofing a house down in Englandshire.... couldn’t believe they didn’t nail & clip every tile!?

The last of any work on the new Bungalow for a while I think with the trades all in lock down, it was just starting to take shape with the slate going on and the last of the roof trusses going in to place

Hope the weather holds. It might help to say that they can carry on with 2M separation and radios . Risk of infection zero and not "working alone"
I see no reason to stop if there are two on site. It keeps the money moving and people on their feet.

Bad and sad to see a building not weatherproof.

Agree with this one @Speedstar assume you have a contract with a big builder who will have laid everyone off on the 80%pay rate but on isolated sites like this it’s a real shame a couple of self employed builders/roofers couldn’t be engaged to at least make the structure watertight, would be a win win situation.

workers think staying at a home & getting 80% of there pay is a better deal than working, if we did have to do the things we do I may have done the same you never know with this virus sh!t
