These any good and 15yrs warranty?

Same timber treated with the same chemical but they will last longer then the "cheaper" alternative. Figure that one out 🤔

I pulled some 15yr warranty ones out last week. They'd been In 7 years and most were still in good condition. Whether they'd all last 15 years is a different question but they had lasted 7 yrs with minimal rot.

But 15 yrs is naff all in the life of a fence.

how long do you think the wire lasts? A good 30 years on the top of the farm (at 1000') and maybe 15 years more in a more benign climate?

Easily do 30 yrs but it will begin to fail between 30 and 40yrs, rusting through. You can help reduce this by changing any barb wire above that will begin rusting between 25-30 years and which will wash down to the netting below

I was talking to Dave when he was hedge cutting here, about creosoted posts, and apart from him mentioning he did a fencing job for someone, grant aided and the consultant took 1/3 of the grant, just for taking a few photos and pegging out the fence line! The thing that struck with me was his comment "the Welsh Assembly don't want us farmers here".

I was looking at a fence yesterday that's under 10 years old and noticed the staples were seriously rusty damaging the wire.
New staples as well as new stakes required on that one this winter 😭

If staples get wet for a while before they're driven, they get white rust very quickly, which then rusts in a year or 2. This is because the tips of staples are not galvanized. Had to throw out a bucket a year ago, where rain got into them.

Last week we attended the AFI Conference at Newark. There is still uncertainty regarding the potential withdrawal of licence for coal tar creosote, which is due to be reviewed by October 2023. Scanpole are introducing a 'Copper Oil' treatment as an alternative to creo in anticipation, however all treatment plants will have to be updated, which Scanpole aren't ready for (yet).
I can't speak for all recycled plastic fencing manufacturers but hanit (which we distribute) will recycle their own posts at the end of their life.
The main conclusion from the conference, judging by the feedback from the fencing contractors, was that UC4 timber isn't fit for purpose.

40 yrs crystal ball needed then is it?
That's 40yr life expectancy, no warranty or guarantee.

Soaking tanalised posts in waste oil Is proven not to be effective. They can promote this product as the new saviour to fencing all they want but they can't change facts. Posts will need to be super dry to make a difference and scampole love to cut corners so good luck with that.

That’s a big expectancy though they must be expecting them to be better than tantashite

I can assure you the only thing scampole care about is their profit margin .

It's taken 20+ years to get the treatment companies and chemical manufacturers to admit that tanashite doesn't work. You mugs can but this new green pee and they won't need to worry of it works or not for 10 + years until someone starts complaining.
