Pottinger Mowers

What are peoples opinion/experiences with Pottinger grass kit. I am thinking about buying a Novacat mower and a 6 rotor tedder, a bit out of touch with this type of plant, the last mower we had was a 10ft trailed.

I am confident we will get a good service from the dealer. The mower would just be for my own work, roughly 400-500 acres/year.

Cheers

Heavy would translate into longevity?

wemused to have a Mex6 harvester and it was a good machine
IMO a mowers longevity is down to operator sympathy and regular servicing.
The cheapest lightest mower can have a long service life of treated well.
And equally the wrong operator can wreck a bombproof mower in a season

Novacat 302 3m with conditioner would be around 1300kg, straight mower around 1000kg. Not the heaviest on the market by a long shot but well built. I was working for a Pottinger dealer up until the start of the year and never heard of any issues with the mowers, they also sold Mchale mowers which are a heavier machine and again didn’t really give any bother.

Very happy here with Pottinger kit .
on my 3rd set of Butterfly mowers ( We change every 5) Got a 2 and 4 rotor rake , the four must be 15 years old and gives no trouble and also got a 16m Tedder which has been reliable and provides a very even spread . So yes good kit but not exactly cheap .

I have pottinger , Jd and class mowers , the lighest bed is the pottinger , class and Jd have a far stronger bed and I’ve repaired all three . I won’t buy another pottinger mower. Parts are too expensive for them too.

I think the pottinger bed is lighter due to its modular design, not as a weak point. And I'm a John deere fan.

It would be the 4.3m cut with no conditioner I would be going for.

Am i correct in saying JD mowers and Kuhn mowers are the same machine?

I have the front arms but no PTO. The plan was to get the rear mower this year, and within the next 2 years get the front PTO and front mower also. I would think my tractor would be plenty big for the heavy mower at the back, MF 7718?
