Offer more money they’ll soon come flocking… nobody wants too milk cows twice a day, with 28 days holiday a year but still have too work every other weekend milking for peanuts anymore.. too easy too earn better money elsewhere for less commitment…

having a house or company truck with unlimited private use with the job will make it more attractive but still needs be on a big wedge of cash

Have you tried Ag colleges? You might get someone keen to get a bit more experience.
Being picky I know but you might want to look for an assistant herdsperson. (y)

For an assistant I would second indeed. I would also target someone with no experience. Probably female maybe working in the care industry or admin that wants a different more rewarding way of life.
Make it clear no experience is required.
Care home staff work rubbish hours, have to feed and clear up sh!t. But cows maybe easier to deal with than people and shift pattern maybe easier to work around family life.

What system and numbers are you running? Asking for a friend looking to move on.
300 British Friesians calving mostly Autumn and rest in Spring on a cheese contract. Grass based as many days as possible and cubicle housed the remainder. Happy family farm but my Polish guy has to return home to look after his children as his wife is very ill. He has been with me for seven years and wants to stay but must look after his children.
