Thinking about this a bit more, I have spent my whole life going to air shows, museums and so on, where there is a huge array of Nazi weaponry painted up in full regalia. At airshows, the Me109 was always a star turn. Should these also be scrapped and consigned to the dustbin? They are blatent symbols of evil, yet I would suggest we keep them flying and on show to serve as a reminder of the darker side of history although they presumably are also worshipped by neo-Nazis.
Again I think we keep them because, well they're different, they are interesting and valuable machines, they demonstrate technology, etc, etc. and all sorts of justifications. They are far more related to evil than a fanciful statue.
To be honest when I have gone to the Tank Museums tank fest it is mainly to see the ww2 German tanks running, especially the big cats. I think might be because they are so rare particularly running examples.

Not at all, what I'm saying is those who are the descendants of the slaves, many of whom suffered very badly live in better conditions and have a far better standard of living than the descendants from those who weren't taken from their native land. Yet many in the states want cash in compensation for the suffering of the slaves, to me that is them wanting some $$$ for something they didnt suffer, it's a bit late for the slaves they died many many years ago
Very true. You could argue that every black in the modern western world has benefited from slavery. Their ancestors were brought over as slaves, and as slavery was abolished, they have grown up with better lives. Otherwise they would still be in Africa, living in mud huts and wearing loin cloths. Just as we have benefitted from our ancestors fighting two world wars.

We do the same, especially to see the Tiger tank running. Looking at all this stuff on public display, which was born and died with the Nazis and doesn't really have any moral pluses, has never turned me into a Nazi sympathiser or want to become one. Having it shown in public brings the story to life far better than shutting it away out of site in a dusty museum, or else just scrapping it because a few people say so.
I would argue that looking at Baden Powell's statue on Poole Quay has not turned me into a pornographer, colonialist or slaver, but the discussion has made me more keen to find out what he really did, and it keeps the whole memory of the past alive whether good or bad, instead of simply airbrushing it out of the way

Was Sadiq Khan not democratically elected by the people of London, therefore he is free to do as he chooses. What in your opinion is British?

Did we not invade Iraq to introduce a similiar democratic process?

We celebrated when the statue of Saddam Hussain was toppled and promoted people power, so why are you so against our own people toppling the statue of a person in this country who like Saddam inflicted pain and misery upon thousands of families?
I think you’ll find that the people of Iraq pulled Saddam statue down and jumped around for joy.

And we supported them, so why the outrage when the people of England pull a statue down and jump for joy. Double standards at play here.
It isn't a case of double standards, in Iraq the majority of locals wanted them pulled down as they were erected by central government, here the majority want them to stay as they feel they are a part of our history and we can learn from them.

What utter rubbish we invaded them in an illegal war, gave them the tools and equipment to remove the statue.

Would you agree to a foreign power bombing your house, destroying your property and killing your family? I am sure in a similar fashion 99% of the Iraqis were also against being invaded, bombed and killed.

Erm,
'The People of England' didn't pull the statue down, a small band of militant extremists did.

So instead of trying portray a different storyline, speak the truth..

Yes anyone who has a voice is a militant, terrorist or extremist.

So why is our Prime minister siding with militants in Hong Kong? Mr Johnson has pledged to allow 3 million protestors to claim asylum in the UK. You're a bit out of touch with modern times, people power is being encouraged by our heroic prime minister. He is becoming a hero to many Labour party and left wing supporters his popularity is increasing by the day.

It's gone too far now, whereby they need to stamp it all out ASAP....

Zero tolerance for idiots like this, as it has sweet FA to do with what happened - it is purely a racially motivated drive to cause unrest, as they can't accept All lives matter, not just Black....

If they do not curtail this quickly, it will escalate to a dangerous situation with White Supremacy groups coming out and standing against this movement.

The Police are doing nothing but run away by the looks of things - probably due to being reprimanded for racial injustice.
Well listening to the news on Saturday, it looks like you were right, violence in Westminster from right wing types, supposedly protecting, how you do that while kicking policemen beggars belief.

Carry on, you've lost any respect I may have had for you after openly condoning all this anarchy and aggression upon innocent people for what you consider a justified cause - then try and insinuate we accept all other things...

You're a legend ?

I don't remember doing such a thing

Yes you did H, good ole Smith31 said you so did so it must be factual.
Maybe your forgetting you took a trip out and tossed it in the water.

I know I have forgotten that I did it - my bloody mind going south as I age. ?

I do wonder why all the demonstrators have not set about the sex slave business that we are led to believe is very prevalent in many cities. surely here and now is far more important that the past.
Me too. You'd think there's enough to keep them busy sorting out people-trafficking into the UK, sex-slavery amongst Asian men preying on poor young white girls, domestic slavery amongst wealthy Asian and Arab families, or the travellers keeping homeless blokes in sheds behind their mobile homes.
