So what can we expect and when?

More immediately, the fear of climate change can be a huge boon to UK ag. All the industry needs to do is explain to the environmental movement that UK ag is their greatest ally, in reducing food miles and cutting emissions, and the jobs a good'un.
Problem is, so many within ag remain utterly determined to see the environmental movement as the enemy rather than an ally. That attitude has to change.

Why would they be bothered ?

Environmentalists make money by blaming farmers, they literally get grants to create "Science Papers" which blame farmers. Environmentalists don't want UK farmers, they want trees, rewilding ..

They have no interest in farming at all.

I guess that what ELMS ends up looking like will show how much truth there is in that.
One thing is for sure, we have to try, and that means explaining to the environmental movement as represented on the ELMS engagement group where the common ground lies.

They like to eat though and as luck would have it I am in the sustainably forage finished omega3 rich protein business! Basically my product literally ingests carbon, stores it and comes with it's own eco friendly thermal coat! What's not to like?

Start planting the olive trees.

Our Italian stallion vet, who has just returned from seeing family in Italy, told me today that all the olive trees in S Italy are dying of a fungal disease and the farmers are having to rip them up. They cannot replant for 5 years.

You might be on to something ...

Given the "Reports" coming from the IPCC it doesn't look as anyone is listening.

I think I'm gonna try and get some work in HS2 or some other "Green" Construction Project.

ELMS isn't going to pay the bills.

Do you mean by Nitrogen the fact CH4 is used to make Ammonia ?

Surely the real problem is a lack of recycling with human waste ? We as farmers buy NPK, the consumer buys food, eats some of it and then flushes waste down the loo.

And that is the end of most of those resources, just sent on their way to the sea.

Surely IF the problem is CO2 then why aren't the NPK captured and recycled ? Something is deeply flawed in the propaganda coming out of HMG.

TBH I think CO2 is a smoke screen. This is all about money and power - and that is why that waste isn't recycled, because the wrong people would have to spend money they want to spend on flash cars.

What can we expect? A massive U turn the first time Boris can’t get his hands on a decent steak I would expect. The Politicians currently can’t think past the end of the day let alone 10 years in the future.

This guy stopped us from drilling on his first day in office now can’t understand why fuel prices are high. Could it at least be an entrance requirement for government to have read Adam Smith Wealth of Nations even if they can’t comprehend it?

I would love to see the life cycle of a trendy young lady's top (clothes) bought at one of our very well known main high street clothes discount stores, targeted at the young and trendy

1) Made in a highly polluting factory in the middle east, wrapped in plastic, boxed and shipped to the other side of the world.
2) Delivered to a port in the UK, and trucked to a UK distribution center.
3) Re-distributed and trucked to a local store.
4) Put on display and sold to the young trendy, and wrapped again, and placed in a branded carrier bag.
5) Hung in wardrobe for the next 12 months.
6) Rediscovered only to find it either does not fit, or is out of favour, so advertised on social media for sale.
7) Sold and wrapped and dispatched to it's new owner.
8) Delivered via post or delivery van to it's new owner.
9) The cycle starts again...........

Aye, it’s amazing how much un worn clothing some young women advertise for sale on Facebook

I don't think it is that bleak. Climate change may well be the saviour of UK agriculture.

Only if people realise farming isn’t causing the climate crisis.

But the None Farming Union NFU won’t try to help its members by actively correcting misinformation because they don’t care about their farmer members because it’s only 1/5 of the total members.

It seems unbelievable that apparently "educated " people cannot make the link between grazing livestock and feeding the population. Remove that stock and grow what? Or is there an agenda being pushed for factory grown food. I still cannot see why new homes do not have solar panels fitted by law or have some form of community renewable heating.
Remember the old saying, “ the more educated people are, the more useless they are “
