The Hedge Cutting Thread

I went to my dealers to see if my quick attach brackets and head were there, the new head was there but no quick attach brackets yet . Had a head pressure pipe start to leak today, cost £73 to get one made up. The tank return filter has started leaking again, I think its probably because the O-ring at the top has been cooked when the oil cooler wasn't working. Fed up of oil drips and leaks on a £35k machine.

mine used to leak round the filter housing due to a lack of much of a seal but sorted quick enough and for a second machine the sight glass was replaced cause it was leaking again not assembled properly. (2013 machine)

funny you say that I was getting a hyd filter for the cutter today and asked about the breather. he said according to their system I was the first person to ever ask about one. if I wanted one he'd have to order it in so don't think many do it.
A bit like suction filters inside the hydraulic tank. Nobody ever changed them unless there is a problem.

;)Out of interest - who is paying for the damage ?
Me.

Bloke was fantastic about it, said he was going to move it after it gets fixed so we not likely to catch it next year, getting my mates brother to fix it as he handles wood a lot better than I do. I estimate £20 for wood and about the same for doing it, bloke has some felt so everything good.

Hate it when you do damage and the owner goes flippin mental about it. At the end of the day I caused the damage so I pay for it, but you would think some of these householders would of learned by now that hedge will get cut with a tractor and its impossible to see sheds and things from the other side.

Was quite ironic yesterday as I was thinking that much about the guttering further on I just wasn't thinking about the shed being there.

A question that's probably been answered before. Sorry in advance

We've had a pa92 since new. My dad recently bought a cheap pa93 as a "when you get a minute" project. It was pretty much worn out, although it has had a recent new pump and motor. I've re-pinned and re-bushed all the worn pivot points and swapped it from left to right. In doing so it's taken out all the "droop" and the flail head now goes the opposite way, so it's turned all the flails to their new side!! I put a new inner skin into the head, while doing so I pondered where I could get a roller from as it is missing. Anyway, I tried it out last night minus a roller and I was very pleased with it. I notice the head runs over the hedge a lot neater and I'm thinking although we've always run the 92 with a roller perhaps I don't really need to bother with one.

What is the general opinion on rollers. I'm guessing verges could be interesting..

I have and wouldnt be without it now(y)
got one on our new shelbourne, had it on demo last year and it stayed, still trying to remember its got progressive control instead of the old jump jump of the mcconnel box, if it does as well as the mc I will be well pleased, the telescopic boom is great as well

Could I ask for suggestions for bonnet protection on a Jd 6920? Only doing our own so don't need anything fancy (read expensive!). Managed to break a few grills on the side of the bonnet last year, they are still there so any tips for glueing them back on appreciated. Only snapped at the top or bottom.

Edit: and it's got loader bracket on if that's a help.

Try running flails in reverse. Saves a lot of mess and damage.

My experience the so called pro's that run without the roller they will only cut hedges, no verges, ditches or tree branches.
Get your roller right up out of the way for hedges and right down when on grass and clear the brash

Keep the roller off 90% of the time. It keeps you alert mayte! Steady away chaps

I've heard of people using horse rugs tied on the bonnet
