If £100 a day is correct and they're are renting 680 acres according to Google that's £53.67 an acre, and in that they've got a home as well.
Don't know about rent or the area so is it a good or bad deal

Surely can’t be bad, given all the sub these Scots seem to get thrown at them?

Nobody seems to have mentioned the nice little diversification project that Emma has built up with the sheepdogs…

Joyce Campbell seems determined to wear a crash helmet - not just on the bike, which is dangerous enough, but even in the steading when she was separating cows and calves. That's not only downright dangerous, it's a stupid thing to do.

The helmet has the ''LOGIC' name prominently displayed. If I was more cynical......................................
How is wearing a helmet on a bike dangerous? Please explain

I must be the only person who finds it a bit lame 😂 I’d like to see done innovative and interesting farmers doing forward thinking stuff. Not just yer more media savvy, fame hungry, book writing, product endorsing types. You got a big new tenancy quickly and easily ..... what a massive surprise 😂 Welcome to the pantomime of Instagram friendly British farming.

Get what you mean but don’t think this years ones are as guilty of that as some in the past.
Thought the virtual fencing transponders fitted to the hill cows in last nights episode was pretty innovative and interesting.

I wouldn't say that about all of them, your tarring them all with the same brush.

In most cases it's showing family farms and what goes on throughout the year and the challenges of living in remote areas and how some are diversifying to support the next generation.

Do I detect a hint of jealousy...
I didn’t say all of them.

And yes probably a bit of jealousy - I’d love to win a farm tenancy because of who I am not because of how capable a farmer I am.

Because from what I’ve seen of ag - If you’re not born into opportunities, then the best way to get them is through a top social media profile, maximum followers on Instagram, good product endorsement and a good photography team 😂 doesn’t matter if you’re a very average farmer or even slightly clueless 😂

Actually not jealous ..... just a bit fed up 😂

I haven’t watched the new episodes, abs I’ve got to admit there have been some great characters and interesting stuff on a lot of episodes. I was being a little bit tongue in cheek.

However, as a window to farming some of it is just a bit airy fairy. I thought John Scott in the first one was really interesting, a very good and innovative farmer. I’d like to see more folk like that.

Fair comment tbh.

@CopperBeech do yourself a favor and don’t watch it. There’s a twit on the with some rare breed horses who is trying to save the breed, one (the best apparently) couldn’t rear a foul because she was no use, so what do they do, flush her and implant into another mare. At that point I turned it off and thought surly people can’t be this stupid!

The Clydesdale is getting worryingly low in numbers, having powered Scotland's farms in their hundreds of thousands. I take your point about flushing a mare with functional issues as a mother but it happens in Texels and they're no rare breed! A Clydesdale should really be judged on its worth as a workhorse anyway but I suppose the showring is where their merit is judged now.

One of my favourite photos is of my mum at three years old leading up Neddy, the Clydesdale workhorse. Mum is only 72 but Neddy was still in regular use at that time. Just shows how much things have changed.
