BKT s are being taken off locally at 30-40% because they just will not grip.
Local firm has stopped recommending them for that reason.

Tyres is a compromise between wear and flex.
Hard and they wear well but dont flex.
Soft and they wear out but don't crack.
I find bkt cut the top in grassland. Ther very sharp and goin round corners followin a spfh in damp conditions when ye turn at the headland they lift the sod which leaves a mess

Epic fail then.
Shouldn't cut ground up like that.
I wouldnt buy them thats for sure after doin a day in local contractors tractor with them. They run all 1 colour apart from the tractor i was driving which in my opinion is the best tractor in the yard and i requested to get driving it. But they slag it of for having no grip in comparrison to the other brand. I say its just the tyres fault

I have trelleborg tm700 in a tractor here and they WON'T cut in to grassland and just slide. I'd rather leave a few cut up bits of turf than a graceful slide into a fecking tree. They are totally bald after 3500 hrs but have been dangerous since 75%tread because the bars get wider as they wear and will not break the surface. Should be banned in mid Wales for safety reasons!

Do you think that is because they are less flexible?
Wide tyres do get interesting when below 50%!

I am sorry,I am certainly no expert in how flexible they should be. Llandovery tyres cover most of south and mid Wales and Sammy, the owner, says he will not supply them on safety grounds to steep grassland farms

Oh Aye

What are these tyres being swapped for?

And where can I get hold of these 40% bkt tyres that don't grip, because I suspect they'll be a lot better than the 40% trelleborgs that are cracked and don't hold air 🤣🤣🤣

Anyone got experience of vredestein? Look a good compromise for me
I hear they're meant to be good for grip but don't last all that long as the cleats are thin and far apart so there isn't a lot of rubber to wear down. Similar in price to bkt, grip better but don't last as long. Not tried them though.

Fair enough. I have heard some people saying they are very long lasting but don't like low pressures, which wouldn't be an issue for me. Need to be ok at 50k aswell

I don't know as when I priced up tyres with cashback and a good deal Michelins weren't that much more.

I would sooner come out and find a flat tyre then end up at the bottom of a goyle!

Surely it depends a lot on the amount of roadwork too. I've a 13 yr old 6480 on I think original pirelli tyres with over 6500 hrs and still got a bit of tread yet.

No ,job sorted now , i tff must of stirred some one into action
Not sorted ,had a long conversation with the said guy ,to sort out the problem ,now an email this morning backtracking what you agreed
Mr andrew daniels your not a man of your word , plan b will be started monday are trelleborg picking up the bill

Last new tractor I bought I specced trelleborg cause I had to stop somewhere. Spoke to large tyre place over here about talking to the trelleborg rep regarding tyre pressures, like I can with Michelin, to be told that he was next to useless :banghead:

No issues here. Pirelli TM600 original tyres.

Also have TM700’s that have done 4800 hours with a lot of road work with a 3800 gallon tanker and injector, no problems and still well over 50% tread left.

I wonder if those who always have tyre problems run them under inflated too much, although admittedly we had a set of continentals that self destructed in 2000 hours.

With all this talk of Trelleborg not being great on slopes, am i better off swapping my 60% michelins from my old tractor onto the new one thats done 1500hrs on Trelleborgs that are around 80% now with small crack in-between cleats. Or put a new set of Michelins on and be done with it? Intend to keep it for a long time and never had issues for grip or sliding with the old tractor.
