currently filling up various bins , some are usually augered in (barley) but with increasing costs bulk blown is cheaper so we need to fit some pipework , its about 10-20m to blow , what piping to get ? only be used once a year so doenst have to be long lasting ,

Orange drainpipe works well and has been well tested by a lot. The biggest risk is a p**ck driving the blower lorry. Try not to use any sharp bends if possible and keep some spares as the bends will wear a lot faster than straight runs, also put 3 or 4 tek screws in each joint
Replaced all the bends in ours a few years ago but the straight was still OK.
See if you can blag a screw coupling off one of the drivers they can be quite helpful if it makes their life easier in the future

Be careful with plastic though, it can build up a static charge and cause a dust explosion.

One firm who delivered used plastic pipes for long blows but always one rubber in the run.
Only had static once and it was smacking and banging and the driver warned us not to touch the pipe ,was a problem with the blower and took about an hour to do 4 tonne not seen it since

No the biggest problem is farmers doing the job on the cheap, and then having to patch up bends with plastic bags and string, then tape, and then more bags and string, then have the cheek to say, it was OK when the last driver came,,,
Drivers responsibility ends where his pipe ends, your pipe is your responsibility,

Hi just get a steel pipe with steel bends on from Collingson, they really are not dear, pipe down side of bin to about 5foot off the ground on side of bin, let blower driver put his own pipes to it, it won't cost alot

Arco do the rubber pipes which the vehicles use.

I was lucky years ago and dropped on a good few lengths of 100mm/4" galvanised pipe in a scrapyard, extended a few pipes so drivers could fill various bins without having to keep moving the vehicle..

My pipes aren't patched with tape ,bags or tied up with string. The way the driver blows the cake is his responsibility and when you get the very rare one who is a PR**k and manages to smash the pipe of the bin in the first 5 seconds of blowing cake then its his fault . No other drivers have done it since or before and if he hadn't rev the blower up like he was trying to take off neither would he.
On the whole drivers are very good.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blower lorry that didn’t have several lengths of Flexi-pipe on board. Asking the supplier would surely be the first step?

they dont mind putting 2, 3 lenghts out
but 20ft up a ladder to the top of a bit is not good for any one

I've just got 100mm sewer pipe with swept bends on our bins, they're just fine.

The only incident we had was a driver that left a plastic lemonade bottle of water in one of his pipes which blew the joints apart and blew the pipe off the bin when he turned the blower on

IBC or FIBC (aka tote bag)? How easy is that to do? I have one of the reps telling me they would be happy to go for it if I took an order from him but I’m not convinced. Not sure the saving would be that much on 3 or 4 tonne either.
