Whats wrong with this spring wheat?

Hi,

Picture from my spring wheat field drilled 10th of May. Had 2-3 mm of rain since then, so its very dry. I adjusted the depth of fert this year, and suspect it might have been a little bit too shallow, and as the ground is drying out and the roots seeking down they cant really get much nitrogen? Or might it be namatodes? I have dug up a few plants, but cant really see signs of weird roots compared to the "proper" green plants. Where i have overlapped on the headlands it looks better. All my springs wheat looks like this, any hope for it when the rain eventually comes? Very slow growth of the yellowing plants, and no tillering compared to the green ones.

Lack of moisture and nutrient uptake my guess

Could it be Mn deficiency? Looks better in wheel marks.

Possibly Mn deficiency but it looks quite symmetrical, has the fertiliser been applying evenly ??
If symptoms are showing in lines it’s rarely nature that’s the problem

Checked the fert discs, and on the right half of the machine it is about a centimeter lower then the other side, could explain the difference in color. So if we dont get any rain for 10-14 days (might be some on the 18th), would the yellower plants catch up, or just die? Havent really experienced a drought before, not used to too little water in Norway..

That looks like manganese deficiency because the wheel marks show better uptake. It will still produce a yield but will be limited by the lack of tillering. Would a tined weeder stimulate nitrogen release and tillering or just lose more moisture?

How was it established? Power harrow combination? Drilled in to ground that looked dry on top but was still too wet underneath? Then just too dry since.
There’s a lot about.

Could liquid fert alleviate some of the nutrient deficiencies in this phase, or is the plant too stressed to be able to use it?

You could definitely pour a load of manganese on it through the sprayer.
That'd gee it up, be tempted to do some other foliar trace elements too, as long as they mix ok.

Some say Yara Tropicote is a easily soluble fertilizer that could be spread now to try and save it - but you still need some rain right?

I put liquid fert on my spring wheat last Monday only about 20units to start it in on Wednesday with a lot of foliar feed and in again on Friday with another 30units maybe not just as what yours looks like but not that far behind it it has helped it turn a corner

I hate these magic potions you put on to save crops. As a farmer and contractor I would say they make no difference.

Any improvement in crop always coincides with better weather.

I know it makes you feel better having done something about it. Plus another sale for agronomist.

Also spring wheat. I tried 1,5 kg N from Yara Tropicote now, might put in some liquid in the tank with the weed control coming up. Cant blame anyone but myself on this one, never put the fert too shallow i guess.. :) Thanks for the help guys!
