We made quite a lot of hay at the end of May. The round baler didn't like it much - too short. Have quite a bit more to do so hopefully the grass will have grown a bit more. All the fields are still brown from silage, which was down by about 1/4 on the same acreage and now all the cattle are turned out on the fields so there won't be a second cut.
Luckily we have lots of hay from last year so they have something to eat.

Got plenty moisture here now, growthy weather but rain over the weekend and drissle today has put a stop on silage, forecast doesn't look like brightening up much either.

Picture taken yesterday ( excuse the mess :nailbiting:)

Not the same amount of moisture here, but the same greyness! Also been bloody cold for the last 10 days.

I'm 'lusting' your puddles ! Dry as a chip here !!
We had 30 mm yesterday and another storm has just deposited another 10 mm.
Contractor couldn’t get onto the fields to spray the maize today , as it was too soft to travel.
Hard to believe we aren’t that far away

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
