Where will the Dutch go?

Coastal erosion has nothing to do with climate change. You can see parts of the UK where dunes are being formed and the coast is growing. It’s near impossible to see sea level rise in the UK becasuse of the tides. You have to go off those islands that are inches above the water or somewhere like Bangladesh.
Coastal erosion is a permanent thing, agreed, but change in climate can reduce it or expedite it.

I know a place near Cardigan where a change in sea level can most definitely be seen; the area is neutral regarding isostatic rebound, some rocks there that were once almost always just above high tides, are now almost always just below high tides. Since the ground isn't lowering, the obvious corollary is that the sea is rising.

There is another option. Your a geologist, you should know this one.

So, having read this thread, I can only conclude we are talking about a colossal megaproject, costing billions over decades of time in order to save the better part of half a continent from being inundated by the sea.

I can't think of any two people better qualified to quote for such a herculean endeavour. Let's ask them:

@Cab-over Pete @Kevtherev
What if they're busy?? That line won't spread itself you know!

We’re never too busy to save the planet.

You’re welcome.

There are several other options, but all discounted; the most obvious is erosion, but that's not so because graffiti carved into the surface would have gone with it.

I've known these rocks since I can first remember because they're at my late father's favourite cove; and in my late twenties I studied / surveyed them during my degree at Cardiff. There has been no localised subsidence, no erosion etc. etc., they are the same rocks in the same place.

Aren't the British Isles supposed to be tilting though? England and Wales meant to be slowly sinking whilst Scotland is rising?
