Err, here, ALL the oil companies / manufacturers / blenders have oil recommendations on their websites.
You just put in the details of the relevant vehicle ( in this case, agricultural equipment or tractor, the brand & model & the application , ie engine / transmission etc ) & they will provide what THEY recommend, as the MANUFACTURER of the oil. Sometimes they might even give you a preferred choice & then some alternatives, especially with engine oils
And if you can’t get your head around that, they have telephone numbers of their technical departments so you can even ask someone

there are almost as many “which oil” threads here as there were “which pickup ?”

FFS - how hard is it ?

I use gulf suto just bescasue there super competitive though certas energy, got there high spec hydraulic oil for Jcb too
It's all a bit of a mystery, Kerax Hyperdrive have been bought out by Certas energy in 2018

Yet go on Certas' s site and look at their Lubricating oil range

They list Gulf, Valvoline, Shell, Castrol.etc ,
Why would they buy a lubricating oil manufacturer, and then sell all these other brands? Or is it a case of putting the same oil in branded cans that the customer has historical perception of good quality?

Both Morris and Fuchs have the same here, quite possibly others too.

I know with motorcycle oils, a more niche market, engine oils can range from anywhere like $5 / litre to over $30 / litre, depending on your wallet & perceived quality or marketing

but surely, there wouldn’t be much price difference between different manufacturers industrial / heavy equipment oils ?

is it worth chasing around for the best price all the time, or just stick with the one manufacturer who is a known quantity ?

That's slightly shortened the list then
Its only that Shell mention MS1209, its nothing special and I'd be confident any UTTO far exceeds the MS1209 standard, which is basically a 10W-30 universal oil suitable for wet clutches.

@Cowabunga will probably know but the newer CNH MAT-3535 standard probably superceeds the MS1209 standard (marketed by Case as HyTran). All the UTTO in the poll are compliant with the CNH MAT-3535 standard.

Thinking back Agricastrol used to be a big name , had stands at all the big shows, the tractor reps would take good customers there because they had booze on the stand, where their own stands didn't.

There are a lot of different viscosities and additives among the choices. It seems a bit lazy to just throw a UTTO sticker on the drum and say it's ok for everything
UTTO isn't good for everything. It is only good for transmissions that require a light viscosity transmission oil suitable for wet brakes, wet clutches and differentials. Not engines. Not for all final drives. Not all front axles. Hardly any brake master cylinders, although MF are a notable exception.

Certas also have offers on Petronas and ENI/Agip from time to time if I remember correctly.
Obviously we all know that Petronas makes nearly all Case and New Holland lubricants under the Akcela and Ambra brands respectively.
