You don’t have to pay haulage if you take to wb collection centre. Lucky for me that’s between my farms.I wouldnt say its good but its better than we have been doing last few years, but as i said above i think its mainly just saving on the haulage .
So do they pay 45p flat rate for mules. Got my grading back for last year and had 400kg of “damaged” (must be wet wool where I stack I think) mule that only got paid 5p for.View attachment 1053719wool job must have improved considerably, couple of years since this same wool was only coming to about £80
In the bank within 6 days.
Yes 45p flat rate, doesnt have to be wrapped, just stuffed in the bag, we do pull the bits of dirt off them though. So do they pay 45p flat rate for mules. Got my grading back for last year and had 400kg of “damaged” (must be wet wool where I stack I think) mule that only got paid 5p for.
We don’t wrap any due to what the other lot paid usYes 45p flat rate, doesnt have to be wrapped, just stuffed in the bag, we do pull the bits of dirt off them though.
That’s the trouble they have a reasonable rate you just can’t get them to pay itSo do they pay 45p flat rate for mules. Got my grading back for last year and had 400kg of “damaged” (must be wet wool where I stack I think) mule that only got paid 5p for.
We havnt wrapped as such for a long time, if you bundle it up ans stuff it in the bag it will come out grand in a fleece at the other end time its been clagged down with the grease. We don’t wrap any due to what the other lot paid us
Rang today they are stowed outWe havnt wrapped as such for a long time, if you bundle it up ans stuff it in the bag it will come out grand in a fleece at the other end time its been clagged down with the grease.
No, they said they honestly expected to be half as much this year seein as other job was picking up, but have had doubleRang today they are stowed out
Mustn’t just be us two that fancied a change

They are going to have to change their ways and buy it off the farmer, be brave enough to pay up and sell it on.They sell it for us, not buy it from us! If it is degraded by poor storage then they won’t get as much at auction, and frankly I’d be more pee’d off if I was subsidising it rather than the producer taking the hit tbh.
I’ve not presented fleeces any different to how @muleman describes for decades, and all gone through British Wool. I don’t put sh*t in the bags and I’m careful not to store them on a damp floor (for long).
We aren’t going through this again now are we ?They sell it for us, not buy it from us! If it is degraded by poor storage then they won’t get as much at auction, and frankly I’d be more pee’d off if I was subsidising it rather than the producer taking the hit tbh.

Yes they auction it so why don’t they just tell us at the start you are getting sweet fa and you are waiting a year to get it instead of aggravating folks ?They sell it for us, not buy it from us! Maybe different areas , round here most are going to the local collection centre for DB, it was all going on the muck heap or fire before that.Must be a lot of wool not going on muck heaps this year then, as BW depot certainly had more in than last year too.
Talking to the fellas there, they’d seen a lot of people back that hadn’t been for a couple of years.
Hopefully the job is turning a corner (however much thedeadweightdirect sellers try to undermine the auction system ), and it will cover the cost of shearing again soon.
