Took mine in on tuesday, to a nearby farm collection for wool board. Me and youngest boy loading monday night and i complained about getting greasy, he said "well if you sold the sheep you wouldn't have that problem"
( he doesn't like sheep) 😂
I know there is another answer, but id rather have no sheep

We only have 42 fleeces, and we gave them to a local family setting up a Wild Flower business, they are using it to suppress weeds...

wool job must have improved considerably, couple of years since this same wool was only coming to about £80.
In the bank within 6 days.

That’s the trouble they have a reasonable rate you just can’t get them to pay it

They sell it for us, not buy it from us! If it is degraded by poor storage then they won’t get as much at auction, and frankly I’d be more pee’d off if I was subsidising it rather than the producer taking the hit tbh.

I’ve not presented fleeces any different to how @muleman describes for decades, and all gone through British Wool. I don’t put sh*t in the bags and I’m careful not to store them on a damp floor (for long).

They are going to have to change their ways and buy it off the farmer, be brave enough to pay up and sell it on.
Most farmers seem to prefer that way.

We aren’t going through this again now are we ?
The prices they put on their adverts are usually unobtainable!!
The balls up they have going means I’m now on a waiting list to deliver my wool
I even contemplated taking some to the woolboard this morning just to get rid of some but would have had a strike on my hands if I had done so
Or possibly a fat ear for even suggesting such a thing

No, they said they honestly expected to be half as much this year seein as other job was picking up, but have had double🤔

Must be a lot of wool not going on muck heaps this year then, as BW depot certainly had more in than last year too.
Talking to the fellas there, they’d seen a lot of people back that hadn’t been for a couple of years.

Hopefully the job is turning a corner (however much the deadweight direct sellers try to undermine the auction system  ), and it will cover the cost of shearing again soon.👍

Yes they auction it so why don’t they just tell us at the start you are getting sweet fa and you are waiting a year to get it instead of aggravating folks ?

How many times do they need to tell you? Aside from scrapping the small advance payment while the global market’s in turmoil, the system hasn’t changed much in decades.

Yet still plenty don’t seem to understand that they are just auctioning it for us.

Maybe different areas , round here most are going to the local collection centre for DB, it was all going on the muck heap or fire before that.
I have nothing against the wool board, i will send it wherever pays best.
The woolboard havnt held it against me like a lot on here seem to do, they sent a letter to ssy they would be pleased to receive my wool in future if i wished to send.
