Got talking to a machinery rep today about various popular brands who said the solis tractors, particularly the solis 50, are massively growing in popularity. I've found a couple of threads on here about them, but nothing very recent. Has anyone got one? How do you rate it??

I have just googled. a very big company in India. Export a lot of tractors round the world . Made tractors for Renault and class . and as a partnership with a Japanese tractor company. Has a production category of 300000 tractors per year. I think it would be very capable tractor, just because we haven’t heard of them before does not make them rubbish.

By the number of ads I see for people looking for Solis etc parts I'd buy a Massey 135, Ford 3000 or even a David Brown.

I laugh at these threads. Someone asks about a 'cheaper' brand tractor and others say 'don't get one, they're rubbish, can't get parts, worth nothing after a year, no back up' etc etc.

Then there will be another thread saying 'we all want cheap, basic tractors, why does no one make them any more?'
I'd guess there's a difference between basic 80's tractors such as Case 956 / Ford 7810/ JD 3050 which happily do 10,000 hrs +, and these basic new tractors from India / China ?
Could be wrong. Won't be upset if you laugh at my post too.... :)

The Indian copy's of the Royal Enfield motorbike (They have owned RE for decades now ) Are now a very decent product (after a few problems with bearing quality in the early bikes was sorted out ) They make a copy of The Yamaha 100cc bike with a bigger engine too that you see in their thousands on any Indian video footage .The Yamaha copy are starting to appear over here now and the RE bikes have been here for years ( Just avoid any pre 1995 bikes).
The Indian made copy's of fuel tanks and any panels and general tin work is best avoided though as they wont fit and are not very accurate at all.
So after all the ramblings above i would think they should be ok :)

The smaller ones have a mitsubishi engine. Apparently they last a fair while, even when they aren't treated kindly in India. But would like to hear 1st hand evidence.

Was that machinery rep a rep for Solis I wonder. :scratchhead:
They deal with most of the bigger brands but solis is one of their range. It wasn't the only brand we discussed, it was because I've never heard much about them I wanted to ask for others experience with them.
