Hustler on front

Anyone run a Hustler bale unroller on a tractor loader. Need to feed silage bales over some high barriers , didn't know if bale movement made it unsafe.

Maybe better with rotating bale spike on front?

Just thinking,a bit better than shaking round bales apart with muck tines.

Would maybe prefer a budget bale spike unroller but don't know how much better a Hustler or similar type would be.

Used to do the same until I bought the Fusion. I run with a full bank of knives and it makes better fodder and for the places I can't get the chopper into it makes feeding out easier by far. Can you have your bales chopped at all?

Yes can chop, normally buy in a couple of hundred bales of hay and silage as well, normally not chopped.

would maybe prefer a rotating bale spike for a few hundred quid than spend a few thousand on a Hustler. Would love to bed up with either but not got good access.

Does anyone feed out in fields with a Hustler or similar? As apposed to ring feeders?
We have a hustler on a telehandler, still use ring feeders and sometimes use the hustler to top them up over the fence or gate, much easier than cutting the bales above the feeder when they are chopped such that they fall to bits the second the net is cut, keeps mess in the field to a minimum and means you can empty a part used bale off the unwinder into the ring.

Never used a rotating spike, but imagine that by comparison it would struggle with chopped bales, and also any that don't want to unwind due to a bit of mould holding things together.

Hustler seemed the best made option by far when we were in the market, and the auto release mechanism and the fact that its reversible are also very useful.

A bit unwieldy away out in front, especially through narrow feed pass doors with uneven / broken up ground outside, but didnt take as much lifting as expected, ours is a 3.2 tonne / 7m machine, and I can push it 80% out with a whole bale before the machine starts to feel unstable. I imagine you'd need a decent sized tractor with rear ballast to handle one on a loader though.

@Overrun ive sent you a PM

we also have rotating spike as well as hustler, spike is good but can’t co-E with chopped silage very well and is hopeless on rotary combine straw.

Hustler on front of loader or telescope loader

is silage dropping off in front of wheel an issue?

can a chute be added or mounting offset be a solution for this ?

We’ve run one for 3 years now on telehandler. Silage down passages and bedding yards with straw.
mostly back up when un rolling bales with it.
wouldn’t be without it,

Run one on tractor for a few years now. Was no problem on 120hp but wouldn’t want to go down our steep tracks downhill with a bale on front so got spikes front and back. Travel with hustler full of roots on back and bale or two on front, empty roots then do bales. Wouldn’t want to be without it, even bed the sheds with it as standard as it’s far easier than rolling bales or carrying blocks from squares. It’s one of those machines you wish you had years ago I found..

I run a hustler on the front loader of a claas 420 ,it's a foot off set, fine for hay and grass, but need a weight for silage bales, run a mchale baler so bales do weigh, can feed forward or In reverse, but easier to reverse with cows in field

One general question about hustler -
I’ve never seen one only on promotional videos does it matter which way the bale goes on - will the bale unwind one way better than the other ie. Same or opposite way it was made ?
Thanks
