Hustler on front

One general question about hustler -
I’ve never seen one only on promotional videos does it matter which way the bale goes on - will the bale unwind one way better than the other ie. Same or opposite way it was made ?
Thanks
Depends on the bale. Soft centre chopped ones will come off in big lumps either direction. Most will feed off much better in the opposite direction to what they were made, but will eventually feed off the other way with a bit of revving and back and fore, Some just simply won't unroll the wrong direction. Actually a bad mould bale may not unwind at all, thankfully only really happens if the wrap has been compromised.

Auto unlatch and being double ended means easy enough to reverse direction, just have to back out the feed pa's and put it down somewhere you can access both ends.

Had a rotating spike when up north great on light bales , absolute shite on heavy silage bales , my advice buy a hustler yes they cost more but they do a far better job more efficiently

They feed both ways if there the locally manufactured ones...
I am wondering with heavy silage bales does each bale unload better to left or right depending on which way it was made.
I would probably try mount mine slightly to one side then would I need to be careful to load bales according to which direction they were wound when making?
Thanks?

Right folks . For lambing indoors, what’s the suggested space a ewe needs. I’m thinking of doing an early mob in March , then the main lot outdoors as usual in mid April. 1 pen will be 35 x 40 ft . And 2 pens of 20 x 20 .
Also I’ve got plenty of gates , so was going to turn them upside down to let ewes feed through the bottom 2 spars . Think it’ll work ok !🤷‍♂️

Thank you
That means you put in the bale and open it and if it looks like you have it o the wrong way you can just pick up the hustler from the other side

Thinking about “offset” would mean bake spikes would be offset
I’m thinking now some sort of chute would be better - just enough to drop silage past the front wheels.

Reversing would be ok dropping off lots of silage in feed passageway but for dry parts of the year ( or scarce in grass) I’m thinking of trying to use hustler to feed along by the fence

Yes, although I generally find it easier to remove the film first then tip the bale over if its the wrong way, since i dont have loads of space to plonk it in the middle in case i need to access either side, but if you do find its not coming off one way, its not a big deal to put it down and pick up from the other side.

Can still go in reverse, just go to the far end to start and revers back.

Hustler do make a chute for them but it’s not cheap so I made my own but it took a while to get the angle right and the drop because silage can get jammed between the spiked bars and the chute. I wouldn’t say mine it 100% perfect but it’s better than without, more modifications needed this winter. i still reverse in the passageways with it but don’t have to get as close as I did. Put 600 bales through it last winter and saved a fortune compared to using the lucas straw chopper system that I used to use both in time and diesel. All my bales are chopped and it had no issues. You do have to load it a certain way if you only feed out to one side of the machine though.
