What would you be trying to achieve with it.? I can see the value if you had a short window between crops to fill, it’s a one and done. I’d likely still choose sorghum sudan.

Also the analysis may be a bit of a mystery for our UK friends. We use the same lab.

Looking for a digestible fibre crop with lots of tonnage. We have a short growing season and the taps all but turn off around mid July. This would fit nicely as a double crop after winter forage. Figure it should compliment corn silage and winter triticale/wheat nicely. Our cows do much better off a consistent feed rather than changing diets to accommodate a multi cut system. Sorghum Sudan’s haven’t performed well up this far north.

Dad first tried growing maize in 76, ended up grazing it as grass growth was nil, reckoned it was his saviour that year.
probably for the best as the varieties back then were way later maturing than now, there was a lot of mess made harvesting around a bout that time iirc.

We are almost neighbour’s by Canadian standards. My neighbours across the road from me are growing grazing corn fir their dairy. they are have tried Sudan grass and various other mixtures.
