What is Boron delivering at this stage in the crop?

A lot of trace elements seem to be going on. I've yet to see any quality, independent evidence to suggest any of them are worthwhile (on our heavy soils). Just because a tissue test says something is low, the key thing is what is the evidence that informs the validity of those tissue nutrient levels? I'll bet you could put trace elements on crops that test low on tissue tests and you'll get no response.
This.

I do tramline trials, I've yet to be convinced trace elements do anything, in all my trials they have done FA.
Actually that's not true, it did block the sprayer once.

Unless you have a particular deficiency then I'd say most micronutrients (and biological amendments for that matter) are unlikely to make much yield difference. You may get the odd discrepancy etc

Even then a tissue test is just a snapshot of certain plants at a certain time - a lot to extrapolate on!!

As reported elsewhere on here, Jim Orson's latest blog on NIAB website highlights lots of trial data showing no evidence that mineral deficiency, as diagnosed by tissue test, affects yield.
But does utilising micro nutrients and biostimulants allow you to spend much less on fungicides? Let’s face it, more and more chemicals are going so NIAB really need to start doing more work on this sort of thing rather than just fine tuning the ever diminishing chemistry kit.

Well I know foliar K reduces septoria severity, Mn status helps against mildew, Cu against ergot and phosphite on ear against fusarium. Having comprehensively trialled amino acid biostimulant stress busters in about as stressy year as can be imagined last year that did absolutely sod all-I will be going where science and more 'guaranteed' marginal gains are to be had for my £££

I'm hoping it will anyway
