AHDB cereals poll and Red Tractor

Would you support a cereals exit vote if ahdb do not “fix” the marketplace distortion caused by RT?

Good man Snipe.

No need for 'EU', just 'UK'. That helps protect our markets, and we now have our own pesticide regulator.

Personally I'd drop the paragraph about AIC TASCC stores. That would be beyond the farm gate??, so beyond our control and beyond what we can declare on the passport. Trading standards inspections check to see if we have a HACCP plan for drying and storage. Therefore, replace the AIC TASCC paragraph with "HACCP protocols followed for grain drying, handling and storage".

I'd also drop the (c) NRoSO bit. It's not a legal requirement. The imported grain sprayer operators won't have it or equivalent of. Or did you mean 'Certificate of Competence'? i.e. PA1, PA2, etc.

Steve.
I was just thinking NRoSO to get round pesticides tax argument. Might help get support from other organisations. What’s others opinion on this?

Sent to AHDB tonight

Good evening. A large and growing group of farmers have been putting our heads together to come up with how we would like a new grain assurance scheme to work that would even up the playing field against imported grain while still keeping a high level of standards. Below is the proposed scheme

Uk Farm Standards

pass port same as in use now with a few more boxes to tick

a) All pesticides used pre and post-harvest are approved for use in the Uk and EU
b) All pesticides used pre and post-harvest have been applied both singly and cumulatively at levels approved for use in the Uk and EU
c) All pesticides applied by an operator with a NRoSo certificate
d)All pesticides applied using equipment with a NSTS certificate
e) All storage and handling equipment used (beginning at the point of first collection or storage) meets the standards
required by HACCP protocols followed for grain drying, handling and storage

Do we need a sticker for any reason???

We think this is a scheme that the AHDB should consider setting up and running. This is not to replace Red Tractor, but could run along side it so farmers could choose which scheme they want to use.

Please could you give me your thought on this proposal

Looks like a cereals ballot might be on the cards anyway..

I suppose AHDB have got stuck in the middle of the RT debate. Maybe partly their own making, as they've helped fund and set-up an organisation which farmeras hate, and which makes market access difficult for farmers.

I recon that if AHDB do everything within their power to sort the RT situation then they'll easily survive a ballot. But if we are still forced to be RT members just to be able to sell our produce, then I predict AHDB will be history.

The AHDB make all the right noises, I do hope they can stand up for the levy pays regarding RT getting out of hand and AICs unfair rules regarding imports. If it came to a vote and AHDB had not stopped its funding of RT and used the money instead for a parallel scheme then I would vote out.

I would definitely be voting for AHDB to be shut if there was a ballot as things stand. I do value some of their work for certain but not at the expense of being taken the pee out of.

Yes I'll be voting for it to shut. I'm not interested in them saying wait to see how things pan out as thats just delay tactics. We need action now ....... today. We can shut RT down over night with a mass exodus of their criminal ponzi scheme.
