so how many have changed their vote on this poll since it started over 4 (WET) weeks ago?
Not yet! The solution on some (mostly second wheat) land that was disced and shakerated may well be the Moore, on a well shod, lighter tractor, on a light frost. Unlikely that we'll get 2-3" dry on top to combi it without a smeary mess.
If the weather has done nowt else, it has broken the surface down a bit.
For the time being, patience is my best tool.
The jury is out on the barley.

Just deciding whether to start on this field and go round the lying water on the left hand side ,or leave it and hope it dries a bit more . .

It’s also a bit wet in the bottom.

Sorry but...
I was one if the 100% votes and never changed. We had some large rains which made it look maybe not so likely. Went and bought a tine drill, had a mad 4 days, and just now finished. Thank f**k for that. Just need to spread some slug pellets and spray the pre ems over the next couple of days.
Very impressed with the tine drill now. Bad start with it smashing the back window of the tractor so not been the best of jobs with the noise and cab full of glass.

No. Not as bad.
It has been strange. There was a local music festival weekend 5 weeks ago. Up until the Saturday we were in a 14 week drought, so bone dry (bloody hot for most of those weeks too). The. The rain started that Sunday morning and it’s rained every day since. Two days, a couple of weeks ago with 40mm each, so wet patches are still wet. Forecast is not at all good, so just forced it in, come what may...

I'd "like" that twice if I could ?
Need some pics of your tine drill :pompous:. What were you planning on drilling it with?

P.s sorry to hear about your back window

I have a combi but I hate power harrows and this soil turns to powder and the amozon drill has Suffolk colters so without ploughing the stubble blocks. So my most usual system without treated seed has been broadcast and carrier but with the hollow type packer, there is no way that will go again this year. (In fact it was near an edge of a field and I had to move it off 50m and it was bunged)

Oh dear! My vote has changed from an optimistic 100% to a more realistic 25%. That 25 is already accounted for by some very small rape that looks like it will be just ok. Wheat seedbeds are not trafficable ATM. I can spread my spring beans out to another 25%, the rest is in the lap of the gods. 200mm of rain in last six weeks have proved too much for our soil. Pre Christmas crop will only be possible in exceptionally dry weather. Still there’s always next year!

we are finishing today but some of it is not pretty got stuck with the vady a couple of times and some of it wet and sticky when drilled nothing rolled in though so stones sticking up all over its a question of wait and see what comes up
