Bale wrap tax

We have the eco tax here, it is 4.50€ per roll. I did put a post up the other day with our price for this year. If we want it we just have to get on with it. Having said that I find farming more profitable here so perhaps another 20 cents a bale is more affordable or less painful. Having said that this years prices are going to make us make more hay.

How did we manage pre 1985 ? We made pish poor hay. But at least those that did make good hay found it was actually worth something.
Paying to dispose of plastic as well as buying it put an end to covering early potatoes. No bad thing IMO.

Go on. Give us a clue. What thread title?
This thread.

ive read an AHDB study into the losses and its near impossible to get losses with a pit system under 10% with higher field losses and wasteage around the edge, losses with bales are more like 2%, when you consider the cost of making silage with the current fert price why are these losses always overlooked in the bales v pit arguments? it costs us £2/bale o plastic currently, not as big a cost as many make out
