I use a shear bucket to put bales in my wagon along with clamped fodder and blend, no swapping attachments and no mess

I've a prodig bucket grab and use it to load everything into the mixer. Straw, silage bales, lucerne bales, maize silage, grass silage, kiwi fruit and blend. Never comes off the tractor during the feeding months. Can't imagine the albutt beings any different

Also any spoilage on a bale ends up straight into the mix which I personally feel isn’t good or even a bale with mud that is actually better fed to heifers behind a barrier.
I stand bales on their ends on concrete after cutting plastic off and then unwind the netwrap and inspect bales incase of any mould and then unlatch spike and drop onto my bale trailer for easier latching and then pickup the 8ft telehandler bucket on euros next to it and scoop bales one at a time against concrete panels behind the bales attached to a shed so not specifically for the loading but useful and just drop bales into my wagon .
That sounds the best idea so far

Big shear/grab bucket and never take it off if I was buying new again

Good point as the main reason I bought this feeder is for sheep and I don’t like the idea of never seeing the bale before it goes into the feeder, the odd one with bird damage or a tear should always go to the sucklers and not heavily pregnant triplet carrying ewes.

I went off pit onto bales. Mainly for shed space as all three pits are under cover. Had a spell using an old Kidd feeder then a west. Gave up with both when we went onto bales but sounds like you are coping
Yeah we roofed the pit for more cattle but we are next to a ssi river and our pit leeks like a sieve and we had all the kit for baling as did a fair bit of contracting once upon a time plus waiting for contractors is not my favourite task. I like the independence of doing it myself.

How easy is it to set a bale off a four high stack with one of those buckets? Can you put a square straw bale into the back of a straw blower? Or have you got to put the grab on for these jobsI’ve a Shelbourne One but there’s plenty out there to choose from

Pick up straw, tyres, waste plastic, the odd dead animal, bulk meal bag.
Set a wrapped bale on its end take off plastic and net. If its chopped at all it can be lifted half way up and splits in 2.
