As someone who knows little about RTK systems I was wondering which would be best to fit to our autosteer ready Kubota M7 tractor. Are some better than others? Thanks

No such thing as the best RTK auto-steer system even if price is ignored. It all depends on your needs and personal preferences. The OEM system usually integrates best with the rest of the tractor functionality, don't know the Kubota though.

Afternoon,

We have a Trimble kit that works well with the Kubota M7, if you'd like to discuss some options that are available please give me a call 01480 861824 or have a look at our website.

If you can, try as many as you can (demo, shows, visit a neighbours etc.) to see which one you get on with best. Not just being shown, but try doing some tasks with it like creating fields and different tasks.

As an example, both Apple and Samsung make phones that do the same things. Some people like iPhones, but I don't get on with them. Most people I know have their preferences.

So do you find the centerpoint cost acceptable? Not planning to downgrade to rangepoint later? Just wondering when you started the thread asking RTK.
Not sure of the exact price, just having a demo at the moment. We want centrepoint accuracy for drilling so no thoughts of downgrading. We have one unit with very poor phone signal hence why we are trying RTX.

We are on Centrepoint Fast on the drilling tractors and sprayer. Very accurate and repeatable. For cereals I think it is all you need unless you are interrow hoeing, or trying to drill between last years rows etc. I do take issue with the Trimble for the cost, especially upgrades and 'platform' kits and the like. Once they have you on their system you become a 'profit centre' I feel. Probably all the same I guess.

Agree, however I'm led to believe Starfire(JD) RTK Extend is as dear if not more.

I was afraid of the demo making you interested and later getting disappointed if the cost was too high. However if NTRIP does not appear reliable because of poor cellular coverage, centerpoint is one of the few options left.

Just be sure you do not have high hills towards south. These satellite based correction signals come from geostationary satellites, i.e. pretty low on the southern sky.

Cost does not have to be anything like for JD or even Trimble after unlocks. A private RTK base has in practise no running costs and serves all your fleet (can sell to neighbours too). Radio works if NTRIP does not, except if the area is too large for a single base or if the high hills are between the base and the field.

We do have hills and have occasionally lost signal ,for a brief moment, but only once or twice a day.We have also had the screen freeze ,which needed rebooting, and crash on one occasion although I suspect the demo screen is a few years old.A friend of mine has built his own system along with a base station for peanuts and it works well.I think the growth in these home made systems will become exponential as time moves on.
I'm not very technically "with it "on these systems and like the back up and support a company like Trimble offer which gives a little peace of mind although I do appreciate what you're saying with regards the costs associated with buying a ready made system.
