Case CVX 1195 opinions

Well damn.. That's a bit of a deal breaker since I've always been driving CVTs with the pedal alone.

Thanks a lot for making me aware of this before I went to see it. Just saved me a 650km round trip.

An 1195 would be common rail there production run was short enough.
On the reliability side there a fairy decent tractor to stay going you just need to keep on top of error codes, a workshop manual is more or less essential with one of them as it gives you an in depth description of the codes.
Transmission is very good and easy to work on if it gives any bother as it comes out the side and no need to split the tractor.
Parts for them are absolutely crazy through case new holland dealers but can be got elsewhere for smaller money.
You can also buy transmission parts individually and I think thats not possible with all brands?
On controls you have fwd/rev on the joystick as well as the shuttle leaver your plus an minus set your cruise control speeds you can set a max speed of 15 /30/50km for example cruise control speed set at 10km mowing use the foot to speed up to a max of 15 in headlands and take your foot off the tractor will go back to 10k.
You have droop control so the tractor will sit somewhere around 1500 rpm while gaining speed at road haulage work.
I don't have any common rail models but I'm sure that at 50km they will run at low enough revs.
Sisu motor extremely good electric spools give some problems but easy enough cured.
BTW your dash display hours are counted and the engine controller is counting hours also so if you go into the error code screen you will get the tractors true hours bar it's had an ecu change or something else funny has happened.
Have one here that's been parked with 10 years.
The ecu was showing 0 hours

Indeed, the one button setup was lovely, one the nh tvt I used to drive it beeped one time for forward and two times for reverse (or the other way around). Very informative, not annoying.
The way you can override your cruise control setting with the pedal can be very handy but the pedal can also be very jumpy as it only has three max speed settings.
The cab isn't the biggest but it has more space to put loose stuff then the pumas.
People tend to say that the cab isn't for tall people but I am a tad under 2 meters and never had a problem.
There's two gas struts on the pedal they should make it a lot easier to control as there will be a bit more resistance and say a rough field shouldn't cause the pedal to hop with you.
Bit of a pain to change and there's a potentiometer behind them so you need to be a bit careful easiest way to do it is there's a panel behind the engine ecu on the passenger side.
Take that off and you will be able to reach across to get at the struts

The way I usually drive CVTs is to always go flat out with the gas pedal and simply adjust my speed with the scrollwheel, if I need to temporarily slow down I just lift off a little but then it's back to flat out, I'm downright allergic to having to feather the gas pedal for any longer amount of time.

I'm kind of confused as what you want to do?
For instance on the road I always use the gas pedal.
It's linking the transmission with the engine and doing its own business accordingly.
If I'm at field work and for instance power harrowing and I decide I want to go a little faster I use the plus button to increase my cruise speed.
If I want to go a lot faster I press the accelerator until I'm around where I want to be press the plus button and it sets the cruise speed to the speed your currently doing

Not sure how much clearer I can make it but I'll try!

I'm essentially driving very similarly to how you would with cruise control by always putting the gas (or rather accelerator) pedal to the floor, this means that rather than pushing on the pedal while in CC to go faster temporarily I can just lift off the pedal a bit to go slower temporarily, something you can't do when driving with the CC engaged since you either first have to disengage it or decrease the speed via the - button or scrollwheel. It also means I can come to a full stop without having to do anything with my hands...

Your using target speed so.
Not a feature on these like I said above you have 3 modes 15/30/50km mode one pedal to the floor you will do 15km and take your foot off tractor will stop.
The sensitivity of the pedal changes in each mode

Set the cc to the set speed, then set one of the other ranges to a lower cc setting & just flick to it when you want to go slower, I could plough, powerharrow all day without touching the pedal once into the field.

You could actualy drive one without any legs, so long as you didn't need to stop in a hurry...

Yeah and like I said you just saved me a 650 km roundtrip because the fact that this isn't a thing on these models might just be a deal breaker..

What we'll do is try to find someone nearby who could let us drive around a bit with theirs so we can try it in reality but I'm not exactly holding my breath.. It is a shame because it really looked like a "perfect" tractor.

Having driven a puma cvx I find the steyr type nicer to drive but it's all down to personal preference I suppose
