There was a Warrendale open day today down at Wooler . As @Bob the beef said , they are looking for calf rearers , especially in the borders as there are 3 big dairies now online with Waygu calves .
But you need to buy them, and become part of the Warrendale family as it were .
Guarenteed to buy them off you at any stage you wish , as you get paid on weight gain.
The fella at Wooler had an amazing set up, with automatic feeders and a strong attention to detail.
I can send you some contact details, or look them up on line .
ps the steaks they cooked for us were amazing!👍

How much per kg are they paying?

Just to clarify , there is no contract rearing with them , as in being paid by them to rear their calves . You buy the animals , but they will sell the calves on your behalf to further rearers / finishers etc .
I understand that but how much per kg does it equate to? Or is it just a set fee per day?

Ok. Not really what I was thinking. Not in a position to purchase the animals, wanting more a bed and breakfast arrangement, like the pig industry. Thanks

Do pigs then ?🤷‍♂️
Mosey up here are always looking for rearers .
9 square foot of shed space per pig .
Measure up your space available and that’ll be how many you can get!👍
It’s what I do !
You’re welcome to come here for a nosey at my set up if you wish !

Because of my line of work pigs are not an option for me or I would have them in a heartbeat. Thank you for your invitation.

Them prices are not in line with what cattle are making now , , would love to buy 450 kg cattle at £2.63 a KG
There’s normally one main winner of these sort of things. They can’t really lose. The farmer carries all the cost & if the bottom falls out the market it looks like they can drop their prices. Don’t know what premiums there are but base isn’t anything great either.
