I seem to feel quite sleepy after eating my few sandwiches and salad veg at mid lunchtime, do any other members suffer with the same problem?
If so have you found any cures that help alleviate the problem?
From what I have read on the internet,I get the impression it is meant to be better to keep having a nibble at food during the day rather than tucking in and eating one’s lunch box in one go!!!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Don’t joke , it’s a carb crash that causes you to feel sleepy as you digest. However if you busy and tired anyway it’s made worse so a power nap can help . Although changing diet to less bread etc would also help
The problem time is at harvest when driving the combine etc when there is no stopping except for a wee!!!

It is a combination of carbs that do cause this, alone with an age thing if your approaching 60 ish, it's the body wanting to repair tiredness if your working long hours, red bull can give you a boost till it wears off, but I not a fan of fizzy drinks, strong black coffee can help a good bit,
If you feeling tired, it best to pour a black coffee, soon as its cool enough to drink, stop down it as fast as you can and nap, the coffee will take around 15 minutes to kick in, along with the 15 minutes of nap, you will wake refreshed and ready to Multi task again,

The real question is you have to ask yourself is, can I really carry on ?
And is a 15 minutes break really going to matter in the grand scheme of life ?

Edit,,,
Why is it that some see having the likes of a 15 minute break I sign of failure,
And think stopping is not an option, also as the combine driver, I take it the trailer men and grain store is not allowed to have a break either, is this really a good thing?
It's like modern day slavery, and 2 x 15 minutes break a day is only 3.5 hours a week, is the job really running that tight on staff

Less bread or at least better quality is best for me. I do like a salad for lunch. Also make sure you drink enough especially when in the air con all day. Coffee alone is not enough

How right you are in what you say. I shouldn’t tar every employer with the same brush but that is the way of some outfits.

swapping bread for salad isnt always that practical, if you want to eat on the move , but swapping to whole meal wraps is a good substitute. fill with meat ,or cheese and salad (go easy on the mayo). with plenty of cling film or foil to hold them together

Stop eating lunch.

If you feel inside your shirt and aren't touching a thin layer of skin over muscle and bone, then you've got plenty of calories to see you through the day.

Make friends with hunger and black coffee and power on through...

I'm the opposite. I was crashing mid afternoon at harvest, and eventually worked out the pint flask of coffee in the morning was the problem, the caffeine wearing off put me into an energy nosedive.

If truth be told I'm as bad again now and rarely without a mug full, and really ought to cut back.
Was it @Clive who cut out caffeine? There was a farm trader not far away who was hospitalised by his coffee intake, it gave him a fright.
