Fire sticks

Having had these in all our machines for about 2yrs, we used one in anger for the first time today.

Combine fire, burning inside, somewhere behind the guards around the chopper, creeping up fuel lines. Struck the stick, used it to put out the fuel lines and then threw it inside onto the sieves and I’m 100% convinced that it bought us enough time so that by the time water arrived, the fire was contained, put out and combine didn’t burn.

Would an extinguisher have done the same? Maybe, but also a fair chance we would’ve pulled the pin and nothing happened because we’d forgotten to check it.

They definitely work.

Well done!

Much cheaper than having to source another combine this time of year too and missing out on days and days of harvest.

Well I bet the person whose combine it was was jolly pleased you were able to help them out like that.

Probably soon to be another convert/customer of them too!
It’s my contribution to the karma cycle. Couple of year ago we had some guys stop and help when one of our lads tipped a trailer load of bales on the main road. What goes around comes around.
