Nonsense, it was a way of avoiding parliamentary scrutiny. Just like his use of Henry VIII and emergency Covid powers have also been implemented to sideline UK democracy.Prorogation was a tactic to get out of Europe , the Queen was quite happy with this , sharp as a knife
And those of us who went elsewhere ? It might have been easy 20 years ago if you owned land or had an established business but some of us didn't and had to go elsewhere not really because we wanted to but because we had limited options. It probably hasn't been easy to get a foot on the farming ladder for a good 50 years. Going to another country I'd say is the exact opposite of botttling it.French farmers who couldn't hack it here 20 years ago when it was easy , bottled it . com
Which is exactly what john major did over maastrichtNonsense, it was a way of avoiding parliamentary scrutiny. Just like his use of Henry VIII and emergency Covid powers have also been implemented to sideline UK democracy.
Porouged parliament to avoid questions / debate on the maastricht treatyWhat is john Major in the dock for?
No, he did it to delay the Downy report into 'cash for questions' until after the election, where a number of Tory MP's and ministers had been paid to ask questions in the commons.Which is exactly what john major did over maastricht
Particularly as 20 years ago was foot and mouth. And here we are in a sort of lockdown again. What an ignorant comment!
Yes you're right my mistake. No, he did it to delay the Downy report into 'cash for questions' until after the election, where a number of Tory MP's and ministers had been paid to ask questions in the commons.
I've had a laugh reading this thread. but this post prompted me to reply. I don't consider myself a farmer, but i am farming here in france. Me and the missus have been here 12yrs, never came to farm and was a builder in uk. We had an opportunity 9yrs ago to rent a farm and took it on. That wouldn't have happened in the uk i don't think. I was able to install with and ag experience and ag references from previous employers. I know a few farmers here and i don't think they came here because they failed in uk. Most I speak to came to rid them selves of mortgages, to farm more ground with less red tape, or to give their son's and daughter's the chance to farm.French farmers who couldn't hack it here 20 years ago when it was easy , bottled it . com
Thanks for the reply and my best wishes for the future , my comment wasn't aimed at you as I've met plenty plenty of folk that have done well for themselves in France yet haven't forgot where the money came from to give them the choice .I've had a laugh reading this thread. but this post prompted me to reply. Now i have been here long enough to see some folk come and go. Some by choice and some because of bad planning, France is not for everyone. Property and land is cheap in this area for a reason!! But the thing that grinds my gears more than anything else is Brits who slag off the uk at every opportunity. Yes I know uk politics is popular at the moment but the constant winging about the uk is tiresome.
I for one am grateful to the uk! That's where i made enough money to have the choice to come to france. Uk where my investments lye, and that's where i would go if i needed to make money. I find it hilarious that the word entrepreneur if french. The last thing the french system encourage are people with vision to expand and get ahead of the game! There will be someone waiting in the wings to take away your hard earned!
There are plenty here with short memories though. Forgot that they came here on uk gains and try to be more french than the french! But the ones that shout the loudest about how bad the uk is, and how it's finished are the ones that can't go back even if they want to!! They severed all ties and settled back into the french system while their pot was subsidising the "paradise" they now live in. Sh!t hits the fan when the rose tinted glasses come off and they realise their investment here is worth less than they put into it. Then come the desire to be french

I’m surprised you were able to install, without qualifications or a previous farming business ,
I had a small business years ago rearing game birds, that was enough.I’m surprised you were able to install, without qualifications or a previous farming business ,

It seemed to be a formality as i remember. In response to my request for the right to exploit, 2 representatives come to interview me at home. They where more interested in my past as a gamekeeper than my intention install with sheep!
My interview was about 3 minutes

No sorry, The chasse doesn't do it for me really! I've nothing against it but it's a million miles from the uk shooting scene. Though i do wish they would thin the boar out a bit! I see more damage these past few years.Game keeper!?
You must love the chasse
If that's aimed at me , I was a tenant and came with next to nothing compared even to you, we've worked bloody hard for what we've got . Never did the big BBQs or 7 vehicles on the drive, got to drive 3 Mercs etc.I've had a laugh reading this thread. but this post prompted me to reply.
