Can anyone explain in simple terms the different types of GPS available, price etc that would make it possible to spray accurately. As I said in another thread, tried a cheap thing about 8 years ago which was dreadful and haven't looked since. Cheers

Lightbar the cheapest no subscription around £800 ish...ive a teejet centerline 220....its OK for fert but I find the next run after your ab line it leave a wider gap....ive just bought a trimble 750 but haven't it set up yet. Think the entry ones are accurate to around 8 inch.

Light bar or manual guidance where you follow a light or a line on the screen around 800 to 1000 are adequate for fert and spraying but it is a long day watching a screen to stay where you want to be

Auto steer you're probably anything from 3k to probably 20k for used or new at a guess ge last JD screen and dome we bought was around 7k for accuracy of 7cm if you pay a subscription or 15cm on they're free signal but it's a lot closer than that on the free signal

Does the tractor still need to be guidance ready for these systems to work?
Not at all. This came 2nd hand from my tame parts man in Kelso. It'll hopefully do more than one tractor.

Nice set-up, so that’s the steering column thing and the screen, receiver on the cab roof too?
I’ve used the factory NH intellisteer before and was impressed. Is this as accurate and easy to use?

That's running rangepoint and is plenty accurate for mowing, drilling. Just not year on year repeatable. Takes a bit of learning, not so much on button pressing, but tactics to get the most out of it. Of course a newer one will offer more and be nicer, but you never win playing that game.

I’ve a similar system on RTK in the sprayer, lines up year after year well but like you say you need to know how to get the best out of it, ask too much and it’ll take 50 yards before it finds its line. I’ve a Puma with factory steering and the 2 are worlds apart really but also £1000s apart in cost so depends on your pockets.

@Jo28 I have a complete Trimble setup for sale if you are interested, cfx750 unlocked to variable rate and rangepoint with Trimble Ex pilot electric steering wheel with mounting kit for a Valtra which would do you perfectly assuming your tractor isn't steer ready.

I will have to do some research, i have no idea what that does haha. sorry if i sound a bit thick. Also if the wheel mounting kit is for a valtra, is it only for a valtra??

With most the steering wheel kits you just change a splined adaptor to suit the tractor/machine you want to fit it to.
I have multiple ones on my jd kit - Claas, Bateman, JD etc so I just swap the motor round.

Take a look at https://www.fieldbee.com/

https://www.fieldbee.com/product/rtk-gps-system/

With the RTK RECEIVER and the RTK BASE STATION, you can get RTK precision (<4cm accuracy).

You can use your smartphone or tablet as screen for driving parallel tracks.

Also optional AUTO STEER function available.

I use the RTK RECEIVER in combination with NTRIP-provider FLEPOS (in Belgium). Very good results at affordable price!

It takes only 5 minutes to move the whole system from one tractor to another because:
- RTK RECEIVER has internal battery for 8 hours working
- you can easily remove your tablet/tabletholder and place it into another tractor

Very envious that you have free NTRIP service over there! As do several States/Provinces in Germany.

The basic FB setup with Base and Rover is about £1500 for L1, but with NTRIP, it could be soooo much cheaper with just an L2 mobile. :-(

Autosteer seems to be about £5K... Driving to a lightbar or Tablet screen is a bit of PITA initially, but becomes easier with practice as you learn not ot overcompensate with the steering wheel.

Indeed, you need a lot of practice to not overcompensate turning the steering wheel.

What are you looking for? Just guidance or auto steer? Section control for the sprayer? Both?
