Hmrc, to claim back 100% of self employed grant,

My accountant told me today that they will want all this grant back if you can show your business had be badly affected by the virus, l suppose wool is worthless because of virus. Can't believe they would try and get it back but there up for anything to screw you over.

I'll not spend it just in case, ,I had the symptoms of it around lambing time, so didn't get out to check the sheep as often , had more losses than usual, ,, I'll lead with that,

Hopefully all the folk that claimed falsely will get it taken back. I personally know af 4 self employed lads that claimed yet never stopped working at all

If you are self employed, you can continue working, just have been badly effected by the situation. Only on the furlough scheme were you prohibited from working for your employer, even then you could go and work for someone else iirc.

The payment wasn't about wether you were or weren't able to work but more about business disruption. I claimed it yet we were still working as countless others will have done. At the time no-one knew which direction we were headed so the saying one in the hand is worth two in the bush came to mind.

That will be a whole different claim.

The furlough will yes, but self employed will be more about targeting those who used it as a means to either end or improve there business. If you spent it on home stuff then I wouldn't be too worried. If you went and spent say 3k on a new piece of fixed equipment yet you were "struggling" I'd be a bit more worried about paying it back. The thing is given the need to get the economy going again I can't see the government running round like Robin Hood asking say 80% of thos who claimed to add it onto there tax bill at 100‰.
