I think the borders are making some things harder than they need to be. I know we are not in the customs union now but I don’t think some of the delays we are seeing from EU sourced goods are justified. I’d like to know how importing from outside the EU compare
I note that performing artists are now limited on touring but it differs even within Europe. I guess more idiosyncrasies will emerge over the coming weeks. And before anyone shouts I know free movement ended on 31 Dec. I’ve no issue with correct documentation but some of the realities don’t belong in this century. I suppose artists can tour in other countries like Oz, USA without too much difficulty. Anyway I guess now we needn’t bother entering Eurovision!! We’ve been out in the cold for years and now we are really out! 😂

The disadvantage of not being part of Europe is the free trade agreement or lack off , all this customs checking for no advantage to anyone . Just extra cost on us the consumers. But then that is one of the disadvangages of not being in the Eu, were you told this before you voted to leave the Eu.

The majority that voted out wouldn't have given it a seconds thought let alone a minutes!

Importing stuff from the eu now takes how long ????
Small tow hitch Usually 2/3 days one week and waiting. Stuck at customs
Could be a big problem wanting machinery parts in a hurry form the eu

It will vary greatly from supplier to supplier, some will be quick as before others will be painfully slow.

Manitou are dragging there heels, currently now only shipping direct to dealers only, order in before 1pm, only 1 order per dealer per day and only 1 stock order per week instead of 2.

This is how its going to be all month till its "reviewed" in Feb The major problem i think for manitou is the scale/volume of daily deliveries not only to dealers but direct third party shipping and also even more complicated is Northern Ireland! They can ship there BUT its not clear if they can invoice via Manitou UK like they used to.

For many its just too complicated or not worth the time dealing with the paper work to now ship from UK to northern ireland!

We are waiting at work for parts. Don't think anyone knows where they are really. Brexit will take time to sort out but I don't see it. Ring too bad when we get used to it. No one wants it to work so that is the problem. About a years time will tell more about Brexit and covid.

Ya, in a few months when people are up to speed on the paperwork it won't be as bad.

Never going to be as quick as it used to be
It’s worse it will get because there is very little going through at the minute and the customs are at full staff. When the usual trade builds back up you will see major delays . The boats from Ireland to Europe will be a lot busier as people bypass the uk.

It'll only be stuck at customs because it had the wrong paper work with it. Imo its probably quicker to order another one and make sure paper work is right!

I saw that Stena have put a 2nd boat on their new Ireland to France service!

And the same from Ireland to Holland , it’s avoid the uk now at all cost , no more land bridge and all the Eu companies that had their distribution centres in the uk for Europe and Ireland are now finished, the free trade is over , it’s just not worth the hassle of dealing in the uk anymore , and that is the disadvantage of not being part of the single market. the extra cost of customs and haulage due to customs is leaving the uk too expensive to buy from. The knock on effect is going to be huge , far greater than anyone ever thought of , Blonde Boris never told you about these disaster out situations . He said he’d get a deal to trade on , he did get a deal but it’s not working or going to work. The Eu won’t allow it to work . The uk left and now have to suffer the consequences of leaving the Eu club.

Many suppliers have based their strategy on free movement and thereby rapid 24 hour delivery. This may have to be reviewed dependent on how the system settles down of course

You said it in your last but one sentence "The EU won't allow it to work" That sounds like a tad silly, but they can make it work if they want. I am sure the EU suppliers into the UK want a workable system. The problem is human beings! they make difficulty out of the most simplest things!!

The Eu will make it as difficult as possible for exports from the uk to enter Europe , and it’s working perfect for them at the UK’s expence. I’m trying to get a load of timber out of Wales since December and I won’t have it until next week. I’m looking at buying from Germany now. It’s just too much hassle and the Uk companies did no homework on how to export to Europe , kept their heads buried in the sand thinking ah sure it will be grand . Well it’s not grand and it’s not working . Hauliers are going broke and are starting to refuse working in the uk. It’s a total disaster for everybody importing or exporting , as I said the free trade days are over , unless it changes very quickly a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money.
