Is Tomorrow the Day We Get News of the Trade Deal?

I was informed today by a Dutch TV company that an announcement will be made tomorrow on the Trade Deal. They were originally coming tomorrow to talk about Brexit and a month to go, but were told that an announcement is imminent on 1st December and so will not be doing anything on farming for another week after everyone works out what the Deal will mean.

Maybe I am getting old and cynical but is all this coupled with the Agricultural Transition Plan just a great way of diluting any hard questions about any of it!

There's no womder the whole world is in a mess. Feckin' politicians :banghead: :banghead:

There isn't one (no matter where you look - here, Europe, USA, the rest of the world) that could organise a good night out in a brewery.

Everything has to go down to the last minute - it's just the same old same old.

"Both sides are working very hard to reach a deal." - don't make me laugh. None of the bu66ers would know hard work if it jumped up and slapped 'em in the face.

Of course it does. How else would they keep us enthralled by it all?! This has been 3 1/2 years in the making - after all this drawn out teasing and foreplay, they don't want a premature climax now!

Also... don't tell me you never left a years full revision to the last minute before going to bed the night before your final exams at school. This putting it off until we have no choice is in our blood :geek:

Looks like NO Deal ! mass panic in the money markets monday morning ! Boris is now calling Macrons bluff , we will see what happens , had already heard french fishing fleet really didnt want no deal as thats all the quota for UK waters Gone overnight whereas a deal meant at least a rundown in quota over time . Still expect something to come out the bag before next weeks meeting in brussels, No doubt mercedes bmw and vw (larry goodman lol ) will be putting some pressure on now

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will discuss the state of Brexit talks on Saturday afternoon, after negotiators said they had been unable to reach an agreement.

“After one week of intense negotiations in London, together with David Frost, we agreed today that the conditions for an agreement are not met, due to significant divergences on level playing field, governance and fisheries,” the EU’s top negotiator, Michel Barnier, said.

Johnson and von der Leyen would speak on Saturday, he added.

David Frost, Britain’s top negotiator, made a similar statement on social media.

Very apt! It would be interesting to see what compromises both sides have either made or suggested they will make! Fishing - why not make it a phased withdrawal from British waters. Not sure what can be compromised on the “level playing field” issue. As the UK would be free to make free trade deals with countries that the EU don’t want to, that’s tricky.

Basically our politicians don't care about the fishing, their politicians don't care about the access to the fishing, fishing will be the compromise dressed up as a victory by both sides and announced to the masses who also don't actually care about the fishing either.

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen asked their Brexit negotiators to resume talks but cautioned no deal was possible unless key issues were resolved.

“Significant differences remain on three critical issues: level playing field, governance and fisheries,” Johnson and von der Leyen said in a joint statement. “Both sides underlined that no agreement is feasible if these issues are not resolved.”

“Whilst recognising the seriousness of these differences, we agreed that a further effort should be undertaken by our negotiating teams to assess whether they can be resolved,” they said.

If Boris et al cave in over fishing, it will have disastrous consequences for the Tory Party.

Fishing might be only a minor part of our GDP, but we have a reputation for standing up for the underdog, and fishermen are admired nationwide for their bravery and for ensuring we can have a complete fish supper.

And if the French can have access to our waters, can we have access to their vineyards?

By all accounts, fishermen voted en masse for Brexit, no doubt thinking of all the extra fish they could catch but forgetting that an awful lot of it is sold into the EU!

There is apparently an argument about what constitutes a British ‘fisherman’. UK want to change it so that the boat has to be registered in the UK AND have more than 50% crew AND land more than 50% of their catch in UK ports (delaying getting it to markets in Paris by several days). So basically a technicality, and still not really ‘British’ trawlers?

agree , BUT there are huge fish processing plants in the low countries , I have no doubt a blockade could work for a few months , but can you see industrial giants like goodmans lot leaving factories empty long term on a matter of principal , its not just front line fishermen that depend on the trade either way , Same as car industry the other way , there WILL be a deal at some point but could be bumpy along the way, Its all diplomacy and brinkmanship and wouldnt base any decisions on leaks from meetings
