Now the government have announced a points system for migrants entering the UK, how much of the fruit and Veg harvesting business be mechanised? Is this an area to exploit robotics?
Seems to me that they will only manage to replace EU immigration with non EU.Now the government have announced a points system for migrants entering the UK, how much of the fruit and Veg harvesting business be mechanised? Is this an area to exploit robotics?
That phrase really annoys me
Picking veg is a skilled job, the biggest skill being willing to do it.
Robots are being developed to pick and grade fruit, but they are still a number of years away from commercial reality for picking anything like fast enough to replace even a below average human picker, let alone a good one.Now the government have announced a points system for migrants entering the UK, how much of the fruit and Veg harvesting business be mechanised? Is this an area to exploit robotics?
Kind of ironic coming from an industry that trousers several billion in subsidy every year and who's often large capital assets can be kept inheritance tax free. It’s it’s an area to exploits lazy benefit scrounging British people cut benefit make them work .
No benefit will encourage the willing bit, it used to !Being willing is not a “skill”, it’s a state of mind. It’s admirable to not be lazy, but it’s not a skill.
Yea Great in it! Wish I trouserd as much in sub as veg growers !!Kind of ironic coming from an industry that trousers several billion in subsidy every year and who's often large capital assets can be kept inheritance tax free.
Ssshhhhh don’t tell them they like An excuse to ride their high horses ? ye haThere will be a seasonal agricultural worker exemption
I am afraid it is a skill, it has to be learned and maintained, the ability to get out of bed and keep working doesnt just happenBeing willing is not a “skill”, it’s a state of mind. It’s admirable to not be lazy, but it’s not a skill.
Something will have to change , the employment rules are far to weighted for the employee .A lot of young brits are far too lazy to do it,having to get up early and work in the cold.how aweful for the snowflakes who would rather lay in bed and watch tv and collect benefits.if they do turn up they end up with more rights than the bosses.talking to a builder mate at a funeral last week.he told me there are several youngsters working there who mostly turn up at least an hour late and spend a lot of time on phones, having long meal breaks and generally mucking about.nearly impossible for bosses to get rid of them and it don’t go down well with older staff who turn up on time and do their work.all being paid the same too.
Nick...
Biggest skill being willing to do it sounds like all farming !That phrase really annoys me

They need Phil a pinos in care homes none Eu , an exceptionally caring race of humans . Sorry I can’t spell it .There will need to be an exemption for care home workers.
I am afraid it is a skill, it has to be learned and maintained, the ability to get out of bed and keep working doesnt just happen
Never have any ability if they don’t work hard at it.No, I disagree. Plenty lads play football every day, but very few of them have the ability to get paid to do it. There’s a huge difference between work ethic and ability.
