I said other so called Professionals on groups , forums, etc, .....shouting about , what they know ? (& partially educating potential customers, etc),.....& "doing it yourself " ? ,....maybe too much time on your hands, as a farmer then ? 😆, .....Forgive me .....I'm just moaning, & grumpy, ...cause I still do this mostly full time,....on FOOT, in all weather's,....& kneeling on the ground, all day, etc, ...carrying the gear, rd , .....& I ain't getting any younger,....😂

Any one using the putange traps successfully? I’ve still not caught anything with them apart from flipping backfills! The old scissor traps I find are much better than them. Really fancy a talpex or two now to try out

I’ve only had a couple to try them. The only time I’ve used them is when I had a persistent tunnel trap filler. The Putange caught him by the afternoon.

The duffus trap is easier to set and easier to check without disturbing it, so decided to keep the Putanges for special occasions, when a change of tact was needed.

I could never get on with scissors, however I tried to fettle them, so only use Duffus and Talpex now. Not that I’m a pro by any means of course, just a lowly farmer.

Earth-thrower , interesting traps in photo in other post. Tunnel trap, not seen one like that before and other trap with sides turned up, did you do this?
What was the point?
Does it make any difference?
Be interested in your answers. Cheers
Forgive me, I never answered you properly,...them wooden full barrels catch well, for me,...but they are modified to my own spec, etc,...to help ensure a humane capture , (but you can foul catch with them occasionally too,...like any mole trap),....but to be honest, I find them time consuming & can be tricky to set right, at various depths,......they are just really an indulgence of mine, & I use them for the nostalgia ! 😀,......the range of more modern metal traps,...of whichever you favour & get on with,....is better , if time is a factor. You see the old catchers, eventually realised if you half a wood full barrel,....you can construct, two wood half barrel traps,....& arguably easier too set, etc. The wooden half barrel , was the forerunner, to today's, metal duffus, actually

Well a rant on here about the puntage paid off. One in puntage this morning but unfortunately it’s pair in same tunnel was back filled. Same scissors caught another one in same run plus another in next field!!

People have asked me , "what's the best mole trap, to use " , its really down to personal preference, & whats you get results with, although a few types are more suitable for the job, really, than others

I have a feeling that variety might help a bit. If a mole gets to figure out how to fill traps then he’ll not be expecting a different type …until it’s too late.

As it’s a bit wet shall we say today I’ve not set any fresh ones but have left the undisturbed ones to see what tommorow brings

No, football matches will be cancelled because 25% of players refuse to have a vaccination and the Clubs are so afraid of them (the players) that they can't tell them them must get vaccinated.

Perhaps they should be told that if a game gets called off, they don't get paid.

I find that the putanges come into their own where there is a junction in the run or a three-way run and you can put one down each run. Also find that they work better in dryer soil. They are lighter to carry if on foot or take up less space if on a quad.
As @neilo has said, putanges are good to mix in with other types of traps. They might evade one type of trap, but are immediately caught with different type.

Hi

I've never needed to start thinking about doing something about moles before, but we are now experiencing some issues with moles making a mess that I think I need to resolve before it gets too bad.

Could anyone with experience in dealing with them help me understand how are mole catchers rated - is it best to get someone via word of mouth, or try via advertising, as obviously this area is new
Go to mole catchers registrar or just key in a mole catcher near me on google.
I am a mole catcher here in Fochabers moray in Scotland.
Which may be out of your area.
