My partners cattle are freaking me out

My cows are normally quiet as mice but I went out to check the ring feeders with a torch last night and they went bananas! No malice but even the Herefords were charging about kicking their heels up. I was glad to be out of the gate before I was a victim of 'friendly fire'!
My girls are the same...that's one of the reasons I've got Herefords.
However, if they're at the far end of the field and I manage to sneak into the field and put a bale in the ring feeder without them spotting me it's a fantastic sight seeing 15 cattle hurtling down the field towards you. Always make sure I'm well out of the way though as most of them haven't got a clue about braking distances.
Would unlikely get injured by cow malice but defo get injured by cow excitement.

I'm sure normal service will be resumed tomorrow morning, shoving them out the way at the ring feeder to take the wrap off 😅

Cows and calves , store cattle , dairy , any bulls ?
I've worked with cattle all my life , quite lucky to be still alive
Most dangerous , Bulls and Cows with Calves , treat them with respect , and was told never to make a pet of a bull
If you look at accident s on farms , livestock related would be near the top
When I worked on a dairy farm in Denmark, they told me, they made a big mistake with an old Friesian Bull, that they had from a calf, they made a big fuss of him, then when he was full grown he had no respect for people and had to be sent off to slaughter.

I felt much the same when I started working with my husband full time ( terrified ) . It's mainly common sense, don't put yourself in a position you cant get out of, watch the animals you are working with and get to know the individual, like us they are all different. Years ago we were trying to load beasts to come in from the hill, it was getting dark and I was having a heart attack at these big black beasts running past me in the gloom, I said to my husband that perhaps a feed bag would be a better way of getting them where we wanted, next thing I knew I had a big face in mine shoving me into a corner, her hooves were trapping the toes of my wellies and as I screamed for help ( thought I was about to die ) my hubby just about peed himself laughing. That cow was the darling of the herd and the gentlest cow on the place, she just wanted the grub in the bag. Get to know them. Mostly they show themselves, some want to be left alone, some want a scratch, some dont mind either way and then there is the odd witch that will actively hate you ( been there, get rid asap ). On the whole cows are lovely creatures that once you get to know them individually can really help with how you work around them.
