Had a good run with the sabre tine so far mix of direct and lightly cultivated ground seems to be suiting our ground, first winter barley poking up now.

Is that the new one with a plastic hopper, I'm sure someone weighed one on here with the metal hopper and it was over 3.5t?6 metre sabretine weighs 3.2tons. So the website says.
So not that heavy when any modern 200 hp tractor will lift 10 tons. Mounted is better when its wet!
Although the weight a tractor can physically lift is ok, if you look at maximum permitted axle weights and gross vehicle weight, nothing smaller than a 7 series JD or Case Optum can legally carry this.6 metre sabretine weighs 3.2tons. So the website says.

Would that be loaded on the road or empty hopper?Although the weight a tractor can physically lift is ok, if you look at maximum permitted axle weights and gross vehicle weight, nothing smaller than a 7 series JD or Case Optum can legally carry this.
They need to bring out a factory option of front tank and rear toolbar.
They will build it if you ask, but it's not listed on the options so its an odd ball if you come to resell it. Also it looks a bit of a bodge with the brackets still in place for the tank, and their front hopper is a bit behind the times.think there is that option already ?
Are you connected to a machinery manufacturer? They will build it if you ask, but it's not listed on the options so its an odd ball if you come to resell it. Also it looks a bit of a bodge with the brackets still in place for the tank, and their front hopper is a bit behind the times.
Hopefully they will put a bit of work into a nice front tank like the sumo and a reworked frame to lose the brackets.
Not at all. Just a farmer looking for the drill he wants. Just putting my opinion out there. Are you connected to a machinery manufacturer?
Just to clarify incase it sounds like I'm slating weaving (I'm not) - I like weaving as a company. They really are fantastic to deal with, and we have run four of their tine drills, and several other bits of kit, over the years. Are you connected to a machinery manufacturer?
Bob Lincs has the 6m sabre tine toolbar/ coulters and a front tank.Just to clarify incase it sounds like I'm slating weaving (I'm not) - I like weaving as a company. They really are fantastic to deal with, and we have run four of their tine drills, and several other bits of kit, over the years.
I really want to like the sabre tine, but as a mounted unit I think it misses the mark due to weight issues.
I come from an engineering background and used to work in the ag tyre trade so I understand axle weights and gross vehicle weights.
I desperately want the front hopper version, but it needs tweaking first.
You. Best not look at the weights of some mounted cultivators.Just to clarify incase it sounds like I'm slating weaving (I'm not) - I like weaving as a company. They really are fantastic to deal with, and we have run four of their tine drills, and several other bits of kit, over the years.

You raise a good point that deserves more attention. Seems lots of tractors using mounted equipment when combined with fuel, front and wheel weights would be over their maximum gross weightEmpty its still overweight.
A puma 240 weighs 8800kg, plus 1t on the front (which wouldn't be enough) plus fuel 400kg ish, plus 3.2t of drill = 13400kg plus driver and sarnies!
The max permitted gross vehicle weight is 13000kg.
John Deere 6 series gets closer - you can just about carry an empty drill legally.
They need to bring out a factory option of front tank and rear toolbar.
I guess that's why they demonstrate it on a Fendt 724Empty its still overweight.

The remaining brackets are ideal if you want to add a slug pellet or avadex applicator. They will build it if you ask, but it's not listed on the options so its an odd ball if you come to resell it. Just had a look and the 724 still only has a gvw of 14000kg.I guess that's why they demonstrate it on a Fendt 724
That had crossed my mind as well Bob, I have stocks applicator on the back our kuhn megant which we somehow managed to squeeze in.
