The only reason we've had the recent change/ relaxation to the farming rules for water is because of intense lobbying by the NFU.
I know that the NFU have lobbied hard after the event to change some rules back
But the rules were changed suddenly without warning
My point is the NFU and CLA and others all should have their ear to the ground and know what’s coming up…. And be able to lobby/change BEFORE the rules are just dropped onto farmers

I went to the NRoSO stand up at lamma and said hello and handed them my old membership card with my member number on ,the person said well done you have 53 points and with todays 2 puts you on 55 points ,i said that very good but i dont think thats right and explained that my last 3 years had run out in February and i had re-joined 10 days before the expiry date and you was going to carry forward 10 points so with the 2 today it would make 12 points ,i also said 3 weeks after re-joining i had a email saying i was suspended for non-payment after a bit more talking to that person another person from nroso came over and said that there was 1or2 members that had got the same issues ,they made a note of my number and checked my email address and said they would sort it out and email me on Friday, yes on friday i got a email saying well done you have earned a badge for being at Lamma ,nothing to do with the problems regarding my membership and on Saturday i got another email saying i have not claimed my badge ,i think Dame Edna is running NRoSO as she had Madge with the badge handing out the badges

I got struck off last year through no fault of my own long story . Anyway my new employer needs my norso membership for his red tractor visit so he took up my battle to be reinstated with the help of our agronomist .We never heard anything so my employer rang nosro and told them he would involve the media so I got reinstated .The moral is don't give up .And yes they are useless .

On behalf of NFU members who have had trouble with NRoSO, I had a long chat with City and Guilds at Lamma. Their main defence was that most NRoSO members have a membership year end in January, so everything including payment and point allocation create a huge spike in work for them at that time of year. So his ask was that members claim their points more regularly and pay by direct debit. I did express the stress that they cause especially when an RT inspection is imminent.

We're busy at harvest etc but we still manage to carry on successfully, they should take on some extra help in January if they can't cope

I have always paid by direct debit but for some reason they did not collect it just before Christmas. I was informed by letter I was late paying so rang them up and they could give no reason as to why they had not called on the direct debit and I paid by card then and there.
3 weeks later had another letter to say I was chucked out of the scheme for non-payment.
Rang again and after some polite conversation they eventually found my payment in their system and said it hadn’t been allocated to my account!
It was rectified eventually but at the expense of long phone calls and a bit of stress.
I wasn’t left with much confidence in their operation!

I don’t know how you managed to get an answer to your calls. I called numerous times and got not one answer.

They did call me about a week after I emailed but that was a waste of time. After a long conversation I politely told the chap he could find my points or I would cancel (I bet that had them quaking in their boots) but had no response from that either so I cancelled the Direct Debit.

Glad you spoke to them and appreciate it but I think that is a pretty poor excuse. I have to take days off work to attend Nroso courses and I know there is some online courses now but having taken a day off to find points not credited then it turns into a fight to get them back on is a pretty poor show on their point.

Just the other day I had my NRoSO renewal through the post. On the second page it told me I hadn't achieved enough points. I think I have and most of the last year's points I have achieved aren't on the statement. So I emailed them and explained that I was BASIS registered and supplied evidence ect which I believe is good enough to get 10 points every year.
I send the email and a few minutes later got the below reply, it's the email address that's printed on there letter, is this normal???? Have they changed the address and not told anyone or was it just a genuine hicup?????

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
