We used to but our local factory went bust so don’t anymore. We fed it in tmr and basically for every kg of silage we took out we replaced with citrus

I used to use dried citrus a lot they love it but get addicted to it, take it out suddenly and they stop eating. There was some to do about some contaminant in it and they stopped importing it, used to come from the US. No doubt Trident were part of the lobby to stop it behind the scenes, it held back the price of beet pulp

So - is there much citrus produced in the UK or is this yet another imported feed product ?

Yet, everyone here is so against imported food for human consumption ?

just asking . . . :bag:

Mostly it’s all fresh pulp from juice companies, imported oranges of course, farmers mopping up the food industries problems as usual. Big factory in South Wales I think is the main one, Tropicana maybe?

Pencefn feeds were taking a lot from there and selling a moist blend for fattening lambs and cattle. There was Trafford gold, bread and beer pulp as well as the orange peel and other things. Could tell the lambs in the market that were on it because they stank of rotten oranges and sh!t like grey sewage, but users all reckon there's no better feed. Whether the peel actually helped or whether it was just to bulk it out I don't know

I’m sure Trafford gold made our animals go backwards

dad thought it was brilliant stuff purely because it was cheap 🤕

We started using it when it was made from maize and clamped it with bread and beet nuts 3:1:1. Absolute rocket fuel. Could fatten big plain ram hoggets like magic. Once it was wheat based it was never the same, even though on paper it was very little different, 0.2 ME less I think
