I’ve seen very little in ours going over the grader.

Personally I’d try and be out of Ramos by Christmas. They suffer badly with compression bruising if bulk storing past jan feb in my experience.

@riverside2 I fried some Rock together with Agria last night and we couldn’t see any difference in the fry or eating. Very nice, just a smaller sample than the Agria.

What sort of money for Rock seed? Are you getting much demand for it? Interested if it tastes and fries like agria.

That’s one of the most demanded varieties I think. We have never grown it, lots of friends have suffered with break down in store.

Yes bulk stored, putting it down to the mild weather making the store warmer than normal. lots of small tubers because of the dry summer. no problems with our other varieties, shame we mostly have Ramos!
Ramos is the parent of Rock?
Could be in need of some fryers in the midlands please PM
Thanks

I’ve only heard bad things about Ramos:( was offered it this year when everything else was sold out. I didn’t take it.

We had a lot of blackleg in Performer, managed to keep the rots to individual ones in store and just picked them off on the heap before loading. The key was to blast them non stop with air for a week to 10 days when they went into store. They never condensated and were kept dry the whole time.

Odd rots in everything this year but not bad. Even the Agria are the best I’ve seen for lack of black leg.

Haulage of potatoes to China shouldn't be that difficult, there must be plenty of large container ships heading back to China loaded with empty containers. Just fill a few of them with potatoes.
