Had kv guy out today to get us set up and familiarise our selfs with our new spreader . Quite a lot to process but got most points covered . I forgot to ask if say we need to narrow spread pattern in a bit after over trays which way do we go on the alphabet scale ?
Feel free to add any other tips that might Also be helpfull without me making an absolute balls up first day out ?
Cheers .

A is the widest setting, to be fair it’s not often it’s far out if you can find a close match for the shaker test.
Not sure what screen/model you’ve got but they’re all much the same, here’s a link to the online ops manual. I find it quicker handy to be able to reference the controls than the paper manual.

I usually have to give myself a refresher corse after it’s not been used all winter.

We are having problems with our Geospread, striping the fields
Using Diamond Compound Urea, nice prills
Box setting said to use letter G, but even on C it`s struggling to reach next tramline
Any ideas please

Don't know about geospread but when spreading urea with kuhn it only spreads 12m either side of spreader, no overlap. Run it at 480rpm.

Only spreading to 21m total
Had same problem last year and it turned out the wrong vanes had been fitted pre delivery
Assumed with the longer vanes it would be sorted
I have emailed Vicon guy, will see what he comes back with

I'm glad it's not just me! First time using our new spinner two weeks ago and there's a nice stripe affect now right by the main road... I put all the data in the app etc and no the Geospread continually adjusts the settings. My headland overlap is set on 0% which I am happy with but what should the field setting be on?

How are you setting your spread pattern? Kv only spread to half way between tramlines not to the next tramline. You could be throwing it to far! Are you tray testing?
Remember setting A is it’s widest setting.

Ive been spreading 26n 37so3 compound on setting K at 24m I did have to adjust after tray testing from setting I the app recommended.

You can adjust the field overlap percentage. What percentage should it be set on?

I was told it should spread to next tramline??
Not tray testing but on spring corn easy to see where its going

Do use the mobile app for the settings or the onboard
Got 2 totally different results from each today

Apologies it does actually show spreading to next tramline in the manual however a lot will depend on what your spreading, think the only thing I spread that will throw to the next tramline is beet fert.

No matter what anyone says you NEED to tray test if you want to be spot on. I’ve always found the app/screen will usually get you within 2-3 letters, sometimes it is spot on though but not always.

Getting the correct drop point is usually the hardest thing to get spot on.

It will spread roughly and I mean ROUGHLY
90% behind the spreader 50% at halfway (12m) and 10% should reach the next tramline on a 24m system then when you turn round it all matches up .

No matter how many people say all you do is use the online info and it's perfect I'd like to check their spreader with trays as just about everything I spread is at least 1 letter off what any app says.

Example is CF mulitcut sulphur it's listed on the app so I convinced myself that I had been using their settings last year and it was fine so off I went nice calm weather so just did everything off factory settings 900 acres the results 900 acres of stripping heavy behind the tractor. Tray tested it 3 letters wider and I've been through it all again twice since and it's no longer striped.

You cannot tell by eye if it's spreading evenly end of story.

Do you still use the Kuhn half and full test method for the kv/vicon like you mentioned before . The vicon way seems such a long way of doing it , one side at a time .

I've been spreading urea based stuff this year and it's definitely affected more by the slightest gust . The bags are that much bigger it must be a far lighter product, like throwing oats compared to wheat type thing .

1st year we had it it was spot on, but was different fert Yara something or other
Last year spread was crap, but blended rather than compound fert and wrong vanes on although they worked ok the 1st year
this year nice prills but maybe a little light 0.72 Kg
Plan to do a tray test in morning, might have to go for a halfway spread

Can you explain this % setting please?

It's not something that I've come across
