Just to let those who don't get the NFU emails that there is a survey for NFU members "to help develop and inform the NFU’s response to the independent ‘Farm Assurance Review’ – a comprehensive industry-wide assessment of farm assurance" so the more replies they get, the better. I found it very slow to load, but worked eventually.

you REALLY think they will ask BFU ?


what they should be doing is using existing AI tools to analysis (without conformation bias) the sentiment of millions of words written by many thousands of farmers over the years online across platforms like TFF / X / facebook etc

that would give a FAR better and truer view than any survey could ever hope to - it's also a LOT cheaper

I would suggest BFU should be doing a similar exercise in gathering members' views and TELLING the survey organisers, not waiting to be asked.

Our local secretary invited me to a local roadshow, despite not being a member. Only 17 people present. However, it was actually quite good, asking lots of questions not just about Assurance but SFI too. Chairman was good, no one was put down or contradicted and he wrote LOTS of notes, no NFU opinions expressed and everything based around asking questions by both sides and discussion around the questions.
The only opinion expressed by NFU was that Council had stopped GFC introduction...... only after the backlash!
BFU must keep pushing at doors - our opinion does matter. I say that because the NFU never, ever mentions BFU. They don't even want to recognise it imo.

I think these meetings are for all.! Anyone who watches Wardy's Waffle last Sunday was invited to the Lincolnshire meeting at the Showground Campus of Riseholme college on the 10th of April between 10am and 12am. I am hoping to go BUT I have a blood pressure check at 2.30pm at my doctors so am not sure it will be a good idea!!. @yellowbelly @DrWazzock

Agreed with what you say but are we ever going to know or find out how many "actual working farmers are members??" They constantly profess to represent all farmers when it suits them but I would wager they only represent a certain percentage, I would say 50% at best but more like 30%. Out of all the farmers I know around here I only know one who is a member.
They wouldn't wish for a response from BFU or it's members as they know that it will all be negative, one of the reasons people joined was their displeasure of RT and GFC. So BFU replies would go straight to the spam folder.

Rubbish. The meeting is to guage member's opinions, so as to formulate a NFU response to the review.
NFU Cymru do the same on this side of the border, to formulate a Union response to Welsh Govt consultations. That's how Unions should work.

The review is open to responses from other than the NFU, so I would suggest that the BFU makes a response too, assuming that's your chosen representative body.

Is the review not taking responses from other representative organisations? I would expect the TFA and NSA to be responding, just from bodies I'm a member of, and I would expect the BFU to do likewise.

Or you can all just moan on hear that nobody listens to the voice you don't let them hear of course...

It’s is indeed my chosen representative body because if it wasn’t for the BFU this review would not be taking place at all, remember who led us down this path in the first place, some of them couldn’t even remember if they were at the consultation meeting in the first place, let alone what was said.

The other thing to mention is they are probably not that interested in the answer anyway. Its about collating the answers and spinning it the right way.
